Renk Group Teeters Near Annual Floor as Buy-Side Confidence Meets a Stubborn Sell-Off

Renk shares fell 2.1% to EUR 34.01, close to a 52-week low, despite buy ratings from 13 of 16 analysts and a EUR 61.79 consensus target.

Renk Group's equity is once again testing the patience of its holders. The Augsburg-based gearbox manufacturer slipped 2.1% in today's session to change hands at EUR 34.01, a move that drags the stock uncomfortably close to the 52-week low of EUR 33.49 touched only last week. The prior day offered little relief either: the shares closed at EUR 33.98, down 2.2%, and notably, neither session produced any fresh corporate disclosure or ad hoc announcement to explain the retreat.

What makes the slide stand out is the widening gap between how professional analysts view the company and how the market is actually trading it. Thirteen of sixteen analysts covering the stock still carry a buy recommendation, and the consensus price target sits at EUR 61.79 — nearly double the current quote. Jefferies has kept its bullish stance intact, reiterating a EUR 60 target. The optimism rests largely on a structural tailwind: rising defense budgets across Europe.

Order Intake Fails to Shift the Narrative

That conviction has not been enough to halt the selling. Even a fresh contract win — a follow-up order from Finnish defense group Patria worth EUR 30 million for the TRACKX vehicle family, announced roughly a week ago — failed to turn sentiment. Deliveries tied to that project are scheduled to begin in 2027. While the order supports factory utilization, it has not reversed the broader mood; since the announcement, the stock has shed 0.9%.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?

Weighing more heavily was a prior reassessment from Bank of America, which reportedly downgraded the defense supplier from "Buy" to "Neutral" and trimmed its price target from EUR 62.50. Among the reasons cited was the question of how sustainable the current production level can remain over the coming quarters. That call punctured the earlier euphoria and marked the start of a more pronounced phase of losses.

A Crowded Calendar Ahead

With the chart offering no convincing floor so far, investors are turning their attention to a dense schedule of upcoming events for fundamental clarity on margins and business momentum. A US roadshow with Jefferies, set for October 14–16, should put global demand and supply-chain questions front and center. Management will then hold a pre-close call on the first nine months of fiscal 2026 on October 21, before the regular nine-month report and analyst conference land on November 5.

The most recent hard numbers illustrate why the market is hedging its bets. In the second quarter of 2026, revenue grew 1.74% to EUR 353.59 million, yet earnings per share halved to EUR 0.15 from EUR 0.30 a year earlier. For the full year, observers on average project EPS of EUR 1.71 and a dividend increase to EUR 0.730, up from EUR 0.580 paid for fiscal 2025.

Whether the operational momentum can finally put a stop to the downtrend is the question the November interim report will have to answer. Until those waypoints pass, nervousness among shareholders looks set to persist.
