q.beyond has torn up its full-year outlook, telling investors that 2026 will now end in an operating loss rather than the profit it had previously guided toward. The warning, issued alongside preliminary third-quarter figures, sent the shares down 7.6% on the day and left them at EUR 3.04 — their lowest level in 52 weeks.

The reversal is stark. Where the company had pencilled in EBITDA of EUR 3m to EUR 7m for the year, it now expects a loss of between EUR 4m and EUR 2m. Revenue guidance was trimmed as well, with the new range of EUR 174m to EUR 178m sitting below the previous EUR 176m to EUR 180m target at both ends.

Provisions Explain Much, But Not All

For the third quarter of 2026, q.beyond reported a preliminary EBITDA of minus EUR 4.8m, a swing from positive EUR 3.0m in the same period a year earlier. Provisions of EUR 4.3m tied to an accelerated AI transformation account for the bulk of the deterioration.

Yet the one-off charge does not tell the whole story. Strip out those EUR 4.3m and the quarterly EBITDA still comes in at minus EUR 0.5m — meaning the underlying business is not yet generating positive operating earnings even before restructuring costs. Higher licence expenses and delays to pipeline projects added to the pressure during the quarter.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying q.beyond?

Revenue slipped only modestly, to EUR 43.2m from EUR 43.6m, underscoring how sharply profitability has deteriorated relative to the top line.

Order Intake Offers a Counterweight

Against the gloomy earnings picture, q.beyond can point to a growing order book. Order intake for the third quarter reached EUR 49.7m, as reported on 15 October, and the volume of new and existing customer contracts over the first nine months came to EUR 101.6m — 22% ahead of the prior-year level.

That momentum has yet to feed through to the bottom line, and management is not pretending otherwise. The company continues to stand by its longer-term targets: a return to positive group earnings and positive free cash flow in 2027, when the AI-driven restructuring is expected to deliver annual savings of roughly EUR 7m.

q.beyond at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Investors will get a fuller picture on 9 November, when q.beyond publishes its quarterly statement. The focus then will be on how costs are developing and whether the delayed projects are back on track — and on when that stronger order book finally starts showing up in profits.
