Partners Group Winds Down London-Listed Trust and Reshuffles Buyout Team as Insiders Spend CHF 39 Million
Published on 10/20/2026 at 16:31 | Editorial boerse-global.dePartners Group is dismantling and rebuilding in the same breath. Shareholders of the London-listed Partners Group Private Equity Limited have voted overwhelmingly to sell the portfolio and wind the vehicle up in an orderly fashion, closing the door on an earlier restructuring plan. The resolution passed on 8 October with 99.89% of votes cast, following an earlier ballot on 6 October in which 74.1% of shares backed the liquidity option.
A first distribution to investors has been pencilled in for March 2027. The move concerns only the managed fund and has no bearing on the listed Partners Group Holding itself.
A Flagship Fund Set for an Umbrella Structure
Elsewhere in the product range, the Swiss asset manager is preparing to split its flagship fund into an umbrella model with separate portfolios for capital appreciation and income distribution. No date has yet been set for a shareholder vote on that overhaul. Media reports from yesterday also indicated that the Evergreen Global Value SICAV fund has shifted holdings in four buyout funds into a new Luxembourg vehicle, though the purpose of the transfer has not been officially confirmed.
The reshaping extends to staffing. According to Bloomberg, Partners Group cut or relocated dozens of positions within its global private equity unit, which employs more than 200 people, as it seeks to lift performance under pressure from investors. Some staff moved internally to areas such as infrastructure or royalties, while others left the firm. The company said team size remains in line with its long-term average and that leadership capacity was expanded significantly over the past year.

Fresh Capital for Private Credit
Alongside the wind-downs, the group is pushing into steadier fee streams. Roughly two weeks ago it launched a global multi-sector private credit income strategy, an open-ended evergreen vehicle aimed at institutional investors and wealthy private clients. The strategy combines direct lending, credit secondaries and fund financing, targeting high single-digit to low double-digit returns generated mainly through running income.
Management has also put its own money on the line. Insiders acquired shares worth around CHF 21 million about two weeks ago, taking purchases by executives and board members to almost CHF 39 million since the start of September, according to media reports. The buying was executed partly through derivative instruments.
Market Backdrop Still Weighing on the Stock
The broader climate for private equity remains difficult after the interest rate rises of recent years. Lower transaction volumes and longer holding periods are weighing on the entire industry, and the equity market has felt the drag. Partners Group shares have lost 38% since the start of the year; the primary article puts the decline at 39%.
The stock closed at EUR 657.80 on Monday, 5.6% above its 52-week low. In German trading it recently changed hands at EUR 650.40, some 45% below its 52-week high. Redemption requests at evergreen funds and a short-seller attack have added to the pressure, leaving the share price reflecting persistent scepticism even as management works through portfolio measures and structural shifts.
