Partners Group shareholders voted 99.89% to wind down its London-listed fund as the asset manager reworks its evergreen strategy and launches a housing push.

Partners Group is midway through a sweeping overhaul of its managed portfolios, juggling the liquidation of legacy structures against the launch of fresh growth vehicles. The Swiss asset manager's stock has been caught in the crossfire, sitting just 0.9% above its 52-week low after a 41% slide since the start of the year.

London Vehicle Gets the Green Light for Orderly Realisation

Shareholders of the London-listed Partners Group Private Equity Limited delivered a decisive verdict on Wednesday, voting 99.89% in favour of winding down the entire portfolio. The move followed an earlier retreat from the original reorganisation plan, which was pulled after roughly three-quarters of shares had been tendered for conversion — clearing the threshold that made the restructuring viable.

Proceeds from the orderly disposal of assets will be returned to investors in semi-annual tranches starting 31 March 2027, drawing a line under the company's previous capital allocation policy. The decision applies strictly to the standalone British investment company and not to Partners Group Holding AG itself.

Alongside the vote, the fund bought back 15,899 of its own shares on Wednesday at a weighted average price of EUR 6.991598. While no free cash was available for repurchases as of 30 September 2026, the board had pre-authorised EUR 10 million for share purchases through 31 January 2027. For the quarter in question, new investments of EUR 9.2 million outstripped portfolio distributions.

Flagship Evergreen Strategy Set for a Split

The British wind-down comes on the heels of changes to the group's flagship evergreen offering. Just over a week ago, Partners Group announced plans to convert its Global Value SICAV private equity strategy into an umbrella fund with two sub-portfolios — one targeting long-term capital appreciation, the other focused on regular distributions from realisations.

The vehicle last reported a net asset value of EUR 6.6 billion. Formal implementation still hinges on shareholder approval. Management frames the structure as a way to accommodate clients' differing appetites for capital preservation versus periodic cash returns, against a backdrop of shifting market conditions and investors' growing liquidity needs.

New Housing Push Takes Shape

Even as older vehicles are wound down or reworked, the firm is pressing ahead with new initiatives. Together with Empira Group, it has launched the Empira Pan-European Living Strategy, which media reports suggest will target EUR 1 billion in equity commitments for residential real estate investments across European metropolitan regions.

Analysts Split on the Road Ahead

Market watchers remain divided on the asset manager's prospects. Goldman Sachs kept a neutral stance on 1 October while nudging its price target for Partners Group Holding AG up from CHF 760 to CHF 770. Jefferies took a more cautious line, trimming its target from CHF 710 to CHF 605 just over a week ago and reiterating a "Hold" rating, with earnings-per-share estimates cut by 10% for 2026 and 11% for 2027.

According to media reports, the Jefferies analysts pointed to strains in the evergreen business and a resulting delay in the recovery of assets under management, which they see as unlikely before 2028. The shares changed hands at EUR 628.80 on Thursday, hovering only marginally above their 52-week low of EUR 623.00.
