Partners Group Builds Out Private Credit Franchise While Reshuffling Buyout Ranks
Published on 10/23/2026 at 13:11 | Editorial boerse-global.dePartners Group is pulling in fresh capital for private credit even as it reshapes staffing inside its buyout arm, two developments that landed within days of each other and paint a mixed picture of the Swiss asset manager's momentum.
The firm closed a second rated feeder vehicle for its private credit evergreen strategy, drawing USD 510 million from US insurance companies. Combined with capital raised in January 2026, commitments gathered through such vehicles now total USD 875 million. Separately, on 9 October Partners Group launched a global multi-sector credit strategy aimed at both institutional investors and private wealth clients, offered through an open-ended evergreen structure. The approach deliberately spans several lending segments rather than betting on one, with the stated goal of generating ongoing income. It is worth keeping the two announcements distinct: one expands access to a new strategy, the other finances an existing evergreen vehicle.
Buyout Unit Trims and Redeploys
Over at the private equity business, Bloomberg reported on 16 October that dozens of positions worldwide had been cut or shifted across various seniority levels. The unit employs more than 200 people. Some staff left the firm outright, while others moved into areas including infrastructure and royalties, according to the report. That distinction matters — a pure headcount-reduction reading would overlook the internal transfers. Partners Group framed the changes as the product of routine performance reviews and said team size remains within its long-term average. No specific savings figure or revised earnings guidance accompanied that statement.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Partners Group?
Bloomberg reported that the firm is under investor pressure to lift performance. Even so, the staffing moves do not amount to a retreat from the business.
Fee Relief Tied to SICAV Overhaul
Elsewhere in the product lineup, Partners Group is pairing a planned restructuring of its Global Value SICAV with lower charges. Investors in the distributing sub-fund are set to pay at least 25 basis points less for three years, while reductions of up to 75 basis points are envisaged for the accumulating sub-fund. The relief is conditional on a restructuring that still needs shareholder approval. A vote is scheduled for the week beginning 09.11., with the sub-funds due to begin operations on 30.11. For the accumulating vehicle, the planned fee cuts run through 01.01.2030.
Reading the Signals Separately
Taken together, the news describes three parallel tracks: a redistribution of private equity personnel, fresh capital commitments for private credit, and fee concessions attached to a fund revamp. None of them, on its own, offers a complete verdict on earnings. The capital raised is concrete progress in credit but says nothing about buyout performance, and the staffing changes cannot be read as either a full-blown crisis or a clean success story.
