Partners Group is pressing ahead on two fronts at once: expanding its European infrastructure bench and assembling a French residential rental portfolio aimed at young adults. The Swiss-listed asset manager also has a €6.6 billion fund restructuring hanging on an investor ballot expected in the week starting November 9.

On the personnel side, Philip Butcher will join as a Managing Director in London in November, according to media reports. Timm Degenhardt is slated to come on board as a Managing Director in Zug in March 2027. Sarah Johnson has already been in place since September 2026 as a Senior Lead Asset Manager. The three appointments span different offices and very different start dates.

The firm's French housing push, branded "French New Living," targets a gross asset value of €300 million and roughly 2,000 rental apartments for young adults within the next twelve months. Two forward-purchase agreements — in Choisy-le-Roi and Pantin — have already secured 560 apartments, with completion scheduled for mid-2028.

Redemption Caps Tightened on New Share Classes

Alongside the property and hiring news, Partners Group is asking investors to approve a split of the Global Value SICAV, a fund with about €6.6 billion in net assets. Under the plan, older holdings would move into a distributing portfolio, while newer investments would be pooled in a vehicle that keeps investing. Shareholder consent is still outstanding.

For the share classes designated "New Share Classes," the quarterly net redemption limit has been cut to 2.5% of net asset value from 5%. A later shareholder letter indicated that the restrictions were hit across several share classes in October.

The pressure showed up most starkly at the Partners Group Private Equity Fund, where investors requested withdrawals totaling USD 2.21 billion. The fund accepted USD 728.4 million and capped buybacks at 5% of net asset value, leaving the bulk of requests only partly served.

Data Centre Shortage in Focus

Partners Group also published a market outlook on Thursday, with the company's own publication leading on the scarcity of data centres. The stock finished Friday's session at €729.80, up 0.4%.
