Palantir Weds Sovereign AI to Modular Data Centers as Washington Demand and European Doubts Pull in Opposite Directions

Palantir Technologies has named infrastructure specialist Armada its first Certified Modular Data Center Partner, a tie-up that folds the company's Sovereign AI Operating System into modular data systems, a software platform and a sovereign AI network — all manufactured entirely on US soil. No contract value was disclosed. What the arrangement signals, though, is a strategic shift: artificial intelligence is moving toward the edge, into environments where data sovereignty has to be guaranteed on-site rather than entrusted to centralized hyperscale facilities.
Under the alliance, Palantir will integrate and validate its sovereign operating system within Armada's systems, leaning on its core platforms — AIP, Ontology, Foundry and Apollo. The stock traded at EUR 168.58 pre-market, a modest gain of 0.5%.
A Government Franchise Deepens
The pivot rests on an increasingly entrenched position inside US federal machinery. The Department of Defense elevated its Maven Smart System to formal program status during the year, with department-wide rollout across the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Space Force targeted for completion by the end of September. Defense News reports the software is set to overhaul munitions management and consolidate nine legacy systems into one — making Palantir an indispensable systems integrator for a fragmented government logistics chain.
Further contracts have reinforced the trend. In June, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) awarded the company a modernization mandate worth roughly USD 45.8 million to unify investigative data within its Enterprise Lakehouse.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Palantir?
The commercial side of the ledger is moving even faster. Second-quarter 2026 revenue climbed 93% year over year to about USD 1.94 billion. US government business advanced 90% to USD 809 million, while the US commercial segment surged 149% to USD 764 million. GAAP operating profit came in at USD 912 million, a 47% operating margin. Management subsequently raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of USD 8.150 billion to USD 8.158 billion, with adjusted free cash flow projected at USD 4.5 billion to USD 4.7 billion.
The Other Side of the Atlantic
That same proximity to security apparatuses and sensitive datasets is generating friction in Europe. Roughly a week ago, calls mounted to terminate Palantir's contract with the UK's National Health Service, with demonstrations in more than 30 British cities against the GBP 330 million agreement. Amnesty International is among those pressing for the deal to be scrapped. British doctors' associations have raised data-protection concerns.
Palantir's UK chief, Louis Mosley, has defended the arrangement, pointing to planned savings of GBP 150 million by the end of the decade.
Investors, for now, are siding with the growth story. Media reports credit rising 2026 revenue expectations and sustained optimism over AI demand for the recent share recovery. At a market capitalization of EUR 402.84 billion and a price of EUR 168.30, the stock sits 13% above its 50-day moving average and 6.3% below its 52-week high.
Behind the operational maneuvering, the company reported continuity in its leadership ranks: on September 29, executives Jeffrey Buckley, Ryan D. Taylor and David A. Glazer received equity-based compensation. Buckley was granted 16,714 stock appreciation rights, while Taylor and Glazer each received 92,908 shares.
Palantir is supplying the tools for a world that is increasingly walling itself off and rearming. Governments and militaries are eager buyers when it comes to sharpening efficiency. Where state welfare provision meets commercial data analytics, however, the resistance is mounting — and the next quarterly report, due November 2, 2026, will offer fresh insight into which force is gaining ground.
