Palantir Technologies has moved to give its software architecture a physical footprint, unveiling a partnership with US firm Armada on October 2 that pairs the company's Sovereign AI Operating System with modular data center units. Under the arrangement, Armada becomes Palantir's first certified partner for modular data centers — a designation aimed at organizations that need to run artificial intelligence outside centralized cloud infrastructure.

The pitch is straightforward: modular units allow data to be processed on-site with uninterrupted control over where it lives. That proposition has particular pull among government agencies and large enterprises operating under strict regulatory constraints, since it combines local data sovereignty with modern analytics capability.

A Federal Foothold, and a Civilian Fight

On the military side, demand remains a dependable pillar of the business. According to media reports, the US Department of Defense has classified Palantir's Maven Smart System as a formal Program of Record. A US Army contract awarded roughly three weeks ago provided further tailwind, lifting the stock by 16.5 percent since.

The civilian rollout, however, is running into headwinds. Media reports indicate that more than 44,000 citizens in the United Kingdom had filed formal objections by October 1 to the processing of their data. The complaints target the use of patient data in NHS England's Federated Data Platform, which is built on Palantir technology.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Palantir?

Goldman Turns Bullish, Zacks Steps Back

Sentiment on the equity itself shifted on two fronts this week. Goldman Sachs analyst Gabriela Borges upgraded Palantir from "Neutral" to "Buy" and set a twelve-month price target of $230, pointing to the prospect of a sustained growth phase that could stretch into 2027. Her central thesis is sovereign AI: governments and corporations are increasingly demanding strict control over their own data stores, and Palantir's specialized architectures — designed to slot into local regulatory requirements — stand to benefit.

Borges also flags scale effects from the growing automation of Palantir's sales and implementation model. The company has historically leaned heavily on on-site engineers to build out customer applications. AI now allows those processes to run more efficiently, curbing the need for additional headcount as order volumes rise and easing pressure on the cost base.

Not everyone shares the enthusiasm. Zacks Research downgraded the stock from "Strong Buy" to "Hold" on the same day, with skeptics pointing to valuation multiples that already look demanding after months of sharp gains. Yorkville Ives took a different tack on Wednesday, initiating coverage with an Outperform rating and a $250 price target.

Insider Sale and Current Trading

Alongside the operational news, a leadership-level transaction surfaced. A filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission dated October 5 shows Palantir director Lauren Elaina Friedman Stat sold 1,337 Class A shares on the open market for a total of $253,963.15.

In European trading, the stock closed at EUR 177.24 on the prior session, a gain of 2.2 percent. On Friday it changed hands at EUR 178.84, up 0.9 percent from the previous close, leaving it just 1.8 percent below its 52-week high of EUR 180.52. Whether the shares can extend the run will likely hinge on upcoming interim reports, with investors watching closely to see whether commercial business beyond traditional government contracts can sustain the current pace of expansion.
