Palantir's Q2 revenue surges 93% to $1.935B, but insiders sell over $43.5M in stock via pre-arranged plans, sparking mixed analyst targets.

The gap between what Palantir's numbers say and what its own executives do with their stock has rarely been wider. In the span of a week, the data analytics firm delivered blowout quarterly results, drew a wave of price-target hikes from six different Wall Street houses, and watched its top brass convert and sell shares worth tens of millions of dollars.

The juxtaposition isn't necessarily contradictory. The insider sales, including a notable transaction by chief technology officer Shyam Sankar, were executed through pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 trading plans — mechanisms set up months in advance that remove any element of market timing. Sankar converted 35,000 Class B shares into Class A stock on August 6 and sold them on the open market, following a similar move by director Lauren Elaina Friedman Stat, who offloaded 3,032 Class A shares at an average price of $165 apiece the previous day, netting roughly $500,280.

Over the past three months, insider selling has totaled more than $43.5 million on a net basis, with most of the activity coming from the executive suite. Under US securities law, such pre-planned transactions are standard practice across corporate America, and analysts caution against reading too much into them — though they do signal that insiders are comfortable taking profits at current levels.

The Numbers Behind the Frenzy

The catalyst for all this activity arrived on August 3, when Palantir reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.935 billion, a 93 percent jump year over year. The US commercial segment was the standout performer, surging 149 percent to $764 million — a figure the company says has quintupled since 2024. Government business in the US climbed 90 percent to $809 million.

Management attributed the acceleration to surging demand for what it calls "AI sovereignty" and its Artificial Intelligence Platform. The company closed 220 deals worth at least $1 million during the quarter, including 73 transactions exceeding $10 million.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Palantir?

The guidance revision that followed was equally aggressive. Palantir now sees full-year 2026 revenue landing between $8.150 billion and $8.158 billion, while lifting its adjusted free cash flow forecast to $4.5–$4.7 billion and adjusted operating income to $4.889–$4.897 billion.

Wall Street Rushes to Reprice

The analyst response came in waves. Citigroup's Tyler Radke kicked things off on August 4, lifting his price target from $200 to $245 and reiterating a buy rating, citing accelerated revenue growth and improved contract metrics. The same day, Deutsche Bank upgraded the stock from hold to buy, and DA Davidson raised its target to $200.

Bank of America Securities followed on August 7 with a $255 target, implying roughly 50 percent upside from prevailing levels at the time. Rosenblatt Securities held its $225 target, and even Cantor Fitzgerald — which maintains a neutral stance — bumped its target to $156.

The resulting range, from $156 to $255, illustrates just how much disagreement remains over Palantir's fair value. Northland Securities also weighed in on August 4 with a $200 target after the earnings beat.

A Stock Between Euphoria and Caution

The market's response has been characteristically volatile. The stock closed Monday at €151.78, up 32.86 percent over 30 days — though that still leaves it 15.67 percent below its 52-week high from November 3. The primary article's figures show a 30-day gain of 30.78 percent and a 16.99 percent gap from the early-November peak, reflecting slightly different measurement dates.

Technical indicators suggest the shares are overbought, though given the fundamental momentum, that signal carries limited weight for now.

Palantir at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The Government Business: Growth and Scrutiny

Palantir's public-sector operations aren't just expanding — they're drawing fresh controversy. The UN World Food Programme is reportedly close to renewing a five-year agreement covering its Digital Operations and Transformation System, despite a leaked internal audit from 2025 flagging "high-priority" risks around data privacy and vendor dependence.

Separately, Palantir filed a formal objection with the US General Services Administration on August 6, challenging a proposed procurement rule for large language models. The company argues the regulation is unlawful and would impede delivery of AI-powered solutions to government clients.

The Bigger Picture

CEO Alex Karp told CNBC in August that the current growth pace should persist for "at least another 18 months." That conviction is now embedded in a stock trading at levels that already reflect substantial optimism — and in a company whose software, once a niche tool for intelligence agencies, has become central to how governments and corporations build out AI infrastructure.

The partnership with Nvidia, which combines Palantir's software with advanced hardware to create secure operating systems for public and private clients, underscores how deeply the company is woven into the broader AI supply chain. Whether the valuation can hold as growth eventually normalizes is the question that separates the bulls from the skeptics — and one that neither the analyst upgrades nor the insider sales have yet answered.
