Palantir's Fashion Pop-Up and Defense AI Venture Collide With a Stretched Valuation

Palantir is preparing to unveil an in-house fall/winter apparel collection at a pop-up event in Seoul on October 22 and 23, with registration opening Tuesday. For a company that sells data analytics to governments and militaries, a fashion line might seem like a curiosity. Yet it fits a broader pattern: Palantir markets itself not as an interchangeable IT vendor but as a brand with a global following.
That brand glow, however, is meeting harder tests. The stock trades at 185.86 euros in German trading, just 2.4% below its 52-week high of 190.36 euros reached Monday. Tuesday's session brought a modest pullback of 1.1% to 185.26 euros. Market watchers note that such a valuation level forgives no operational missteps.
A Joint Venture Anchors the Defense AI Story
The confidence behind the rally is not without substance. Palantir and Ondas announced the formation of Regna AI, a venture that will deliver mission-specific, sovereign AI solutions for government agencies, security authorities, and critical infrastructure. The structure is notable: Ondas serves as sole owner and funds the launch, while Palantir contributes its AIP platform and engineering support.
Regna AI targets a specific gap—operating directly on edge hardware such as drones and vehicles without a constant network connection. The initiative demonstrates how deftly Palantir embeds its technology in security-critical domains. That strategic foresight is arguably the real engine of the company's success story, binding existing customers tightly to its platform. Net revenue retention hit 157% in the second quarter of 2026.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Palantir?
Wall Street Cheers, but Cracks Appear
Analysts have taken notice. Barclays analyst Anthony Valentini initiated coverage with an "Overweight" rating and a price target of $265. Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock to "Buy" with a $230 target. Such price marks show how much optimism is flowing into the market.
Not everyone shares the enthusiasm. Phillip Securities downgraded the stock Monday from "Strong Buy" to "Hold." The caution is understandable: an industry multiple based on 2027 estimates puts the price-to-sales ratio near 39, hardly a hidden gem anymore. Revenue grew 92.8% year-over-year to $1.94 billion in the second quarter of 2026, but sustaining that pace is another matter.
Activist Pressure and Reputational Risk
The company's deep involvement in sovereign functions also generates friction. On October 1, members of National Nurses United demonstrated in San Francisco, urging hospitals and public institutions to sever ties with Palantir over its work with U.S. immigration authority ICE. Palantir told California station KALW that no data is shared between customers.
This episode highlights the structural tension in which the company operates. Proximity to security agencies secures long-term contracts and creates substantial barriers to entry for competitors. At the same time, that positioning carries persistent reputational risks in the civilian and commercial sectors. The concept of sovereign AI—protected data spaces and specialized models—demands absolute trust from clients. Partnerships such as the one with Armada, which links the Sovereign AI Operating System with modular data centers, demonstrate the platform's expansion drive while raising the bar for data protection and system integrity.
November 2 Looms Large
The moment of truth for these high expectations is approaching. Palantir will report third-quarter 2026 results on November 2 after U.S. market close, followed by a webcast conference. After the recent surge, solid numbers alone may no longer be enough to attract new buyers.
Operationally, Palantir stands as strong as ever. The Regna AI partnership shows that demand for sovereign AI in the defense sector is only gaining momentum. But on the stock market, the relationship between opportunity and risk is what counts. Anyone holding at current levels should be aware that the valuation is extremely ambitious. Near term, consolidation risks outweigh the upside, even if the long-term growth story remains fully intact.
