Palantir shares climbed 4.3% today, recovering alongside a broader bounce across AI-related names after two sessions of heavy selling. The Associated Press reported a wider countermovement following the slump, which had been triggered by political jitters: investors, according to media reports, feared that Democratic gains in the midterm elections could bring tighter restrictions on data centers and, by extension, slow the pace of investment flowing into artificial intelligence. Palantir was among the stocks caught in that downdraft, falling 9.7% in the prior session as AI and defense names were sold off together after the vote.

That swing captures the central question facing anyone evaluating the company right now. Palantir's own business is expanding at a furious clip, yet the stock trades in an environment where investors are dumping exactly the themes it represents. How durable is the growth story if the sector tailwind fades?

A Commercial Milestone Changes the Frame

The most telling development sits inside the US business. Commercial US revenue jumped 148% in the third quarter of 2026 to $984 million, overtaking revenue from US government agencies for the first time. That shift gives investors a way to judge Palantir on its own operations rather than on its membership in a market theme that is currently out of favor. Whether the crossover becomes a lasting feature of the business — not a one-quarter curiosity — is the yardstick that matters more than the sector's mood swings.

The headline numbers back up the momentum. Revenue for the third quarter of 2026 reached $2.31 billion, roughly 96% higher than a year earlier, according to Reuters. Palantir also raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $8.530 billion to $8.534 billion, handing investors a concrete benchmark against which to measure what comes next.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Palantir?

The Order Book Is the Harder Test

Contract signings tell a less comfortable story. Total contract value rose 6% year over year, and growth in the commercial US segment decelerated to 11% — down from more than 153% in the previous quarter. Analysts flagged the slowdown as a cause for concern. For a growth narrative to hold up over time, bookings need to carry real dynamism, and right now that dynamism is lagging well behind the revenue line.

Where the two stories meet is implementation. Two partnerships announced this week point to how Palantir intends to convert AI enthusiasm into recurring business. On Wednesday the company unveiled a tie-up with Changshin to connect shoe development and factory operations through data and artificial intelligence — an operational use case that links design and production. A day earlier came a partnership with AmeriLife, which will deploy Foundry and AIP across health and wealth distribution; at Crump Life Insurance Services, comparable workflows were already running in production.

The two deals span different fields, which speaks to the breadth of applications Palantir is targeting — provided the projects generate lasting business. That is why execution, not the announcement itself, is the pivot for investors. The more deeply such applications become embedded in day-to-day operations, the more credible the growth argument becomes.

Today's sector-wide recovery offers a friendlier backdrop for the stock. The long-term verdict, though, will be written by customers and the follow-on orders they place.
