One Document, Five Certification Schemes: VIGOUR's Sanitary Range Clears the Paperwork Hurdle

Planners and contractors assembling sustainability documentation for a building project usually face the same grind: chasing individual environmental certificates from each manufacturer, one product group at a time. For several VIGOUR lines, that chase just got shorter.
The sanitary manufacturer has secured the digital SHI product passport from the Sentinel Holding Institute for selected fittings, shower systems, thermostats, concealed installation bodies (Unterputzkörper 2.0) and ceramic products. Industry reports from early October confirm the award, which bundles verified data on environmental and health criteria for these components into a single document.
What the passport actually contains
At its core, the SHI product passport functions as a consolidated record of the metrics that matter when construction and fit-out products are assessed. For the VIGOUR items covered, it lays out environmental, pollutant and circularity data in a structured format, with standardised Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) folded in alongside.
That combination lets planners, tradespeople and building owners trace which substances go into the products and how each sanitary element affects indoor air quality and material cycles. Compiling product information for a project — traditionally a patchwork task — becomes considerably less labour-intensive as a result.
Recognised on the spot by two certification bodies
The data inside the passport is built to serve the evidence requirements of established building certification systems. It is designed to cover the specifications of DGNB, QNG, BREEAM, BNB and LEED, and to simplify documentation under the EU Taxonomy.
Two of those systems go further than mere compatibility. Both the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen, DGNB) and STI-BIW accept the SHI product passport directly as valid proof. Project participants therefore no longer need to request and verify separate evidence for individual building-biology or environmental requirements from manufacturers.
PDF download and direct feed into project software
The Sentinel Holding Institute distributes the passport digitally. It can be retrieved as a PDF through the central SHI database.
Product data for the awarded VIGOUR elements is also stored in ZERTIVA, a project management tool. That means the information can be fed straight into existing software workflows for managing and documenting sustainable construction projects — smoothing the evidence chain from product selection through to final building certification.
