OHB Wins ESA Moon Study Mandate and Wraps Mainz Rocket-Test Stand Ahead of November Results
Published on 11/03/2026 at 07:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deOHB System AG has picked up feasibility and preliminary design work for OASIS, a planned lunar infrastructure, under a European Space Agency award dated 19 October. The contract covers preparatory studies only, but it adds a second space-agency mandate to a run of news that has kept the Bremen-based group in focus ahead of its nine-month figures, scheduled for release and presentation on 12 November.
The lunar award landed three days after OHB Digital Connect closed out the EU-backed Eu-BEST project, whose modular, mobile test stand for rocket engine trials received final acceptance in Mainz on 22 October. Eiffage Énergie Systèmes – Clemessy coordinated the project, while SpaceDreams held technical responsibility for the rig's design. Brussels contributed EUR 4.96 million in funding to the venture.
Brokerage Coverage Stays Constructive
On the analyst side, Jefferies reiterated its buy rating on OHB ahead of the quarterly numbers and kept its price target at EUR 280. Analyst Chloe Lemarie anticipated that the positive momentum seen in the first half would carry through, with the company tracking toward its full-year objectives — margin development in particular was expected to remain on a favourable path.
Berenberg had already restated its own buy call on 27 October, with analyst Michael Filatov holding a EUR 358 target. His case rests on Germany's multi-billion-euro military space programme, and he singled out the Bundeswehr's future satellite-based communications system as the single biggest opportunity for the company.

Pullback Without a Company-Specific Trigger
The stock gave up 1.8% in the prior session. According to media reports, no identifiable negative company news lay behind the decline; profit-taking and a technical correction were floated as possible explanations.
Satellite Communications and Orbital Services in the Frame
Roughly a week before the Mainz milestone, OHB struck a strategic partnership with MediaMobil Communication GmbH. Under a capital increase, OHB is taking a 25% stake, with the stated aim of deepening its own satellite communications capabilities.
A memorandum of understanding with Astroscale Holdings was signed around the same time. The two groups intend to explore cooperation on space safety, space situational awareness and in-orbit services. The agreement sets up a framework for identifying joint projects but does not yet specify concrete contracts or financial volumes.
