Bremen's space and defence group is racking up operational wins at a relentless pace — yet its stock continues to bleed, leaving investors to reconcile a widening gap between corporate achievement and market reality.

The latest development sees OHB's subsidiary Rocket Factory Augsburg secure a contract with the European Space Agency under the European Launcher Challenge, while sister company LuxSpace's ATHENE-1 technology demonstrator makes its way to the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California for launch. On the same front, the group's EMS-Suit system has been qualified for use aboard the International Space Station, where French ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot began the "EasyMotion-2" experiment on Tuesday.

These milestones span the full breadth of OHB's operations — from in-house rocket development to satellite projects and human spaceflight technology. Yet the share price tells a different story entirely. The stock closed Wednesday at €194.60, down 1.8 percent on the day and 15 percent lower on the week. Over the past 30 days, the decline reaches 18 percent, with the shares now trading at €191.80 and sitting well below their medium-term moving averages.

What makes the sell-off particularly notable is what it has failed to respond to. The ESA contract for Rocket Factory Augsburg joins a string of positive announcements that have done little to arrest the slide. Roughly two weeks ago, OHB was added to the SDAX index on an unscheduled basis, replacing Klöckner & Co. Around the same time, the company secured a contract worth over one billion euros under the European Iris2 satellite programme. Neither development — nor the ISS qualification — has managed to turn the tide.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying OHB SE?

The disconnect has a partial explanation in the broader sector environment. Market observers had earlier this month flagged OHB as comparatively resilient amid weaker news surrounding SpaceX, though no company-specific statement underpinned that assessment. Similarly, a mid-August report about a European satellite network moved the share price without any direct OHB announcement. Sector-driven trading appears to be overwhelming company-specific fundamentals.

That fundamental picture remains robust, however. Early August brought strong second-quarter and first-half 2026 results, with management confirming full-year guidance and pointing to new partnerships. The order book continues to benefit from the recent contract wins, and the operational trajectory shows no signs of faltering.

Analysts have taken note. Oddo BHF initiated coverage earlier this month with an "Outperform" rating and a €290 price target, while Jefferies assigned a "Buy" recommendation with a €280 target just days earlier. Both targets sat well above the prevailing share price at publication, signalling conviction in the company's operational development.

The market's current behaviour suggests the preceding rally — fuelled by index inclusions and major contract announcements — had run ahead of itself and is now unwinding in a broader correction. For shareholders, the situation presents a clear bifurcation: operational progress continues unabated, from index membership and billion-euro contracts to live space-station technology, while the share price remains hostage to technical selling pressure and sector sentiment that shows no immediate sign of abating.

Whether the fundamental strength eventually reasserts itself in the share price depends on the selling wave subsiding and investors once again weighting the news flow over the price chart. On a year-to-date basis, the stock remains up 66 percent, a reminder that the recent weakness comes after a substantial run. But for now, the correction is proving stubbornly resistant to the very good news that should, by all logic, be supporting the shares.
