Ocugen Lays Out Three BLA Filings Through 2028 While Its Share Price Sits at a 52-Week Floor
Published on 10/20/2026 at 14:30 | Editorial boerse-global.deOcugen has given investors a date to circle — several of them, in fact. A corporate presentation published on 15 October set out the company's medium-term milestones, and the headline number is three Biologics License Applications (BLAs) targeted for filing by 2028 across its gene therapy pipeline.
The most advanced asset, OCU400, is expected to deliver Phase 3 topline results in the first quarter of 2027. Those data would underpin a BLA submission in the second quarter of 2027, giving the program a defined regulatory path — and a lengthy one.
That timeline explains much of the market's current posture. The stock changed hands at 0.7150 EUR, up 1.6% on the day but still hovering just above its 52-week low of 0.7000 EUR, a level it touched as recently as the latest session. Year-to-date, the shares have shed 44%.
Partnerships Carry the International Load
Rather than build everywhere at once, Ocugen has leaned on licensing to extend OCU400's reach. Under an exclusive agreement with Roots Pharmaceutical and partner Al-Dhow International Holding, rights for selected countries across the Middle East and North Africa have been handed over. Ocugen retains manufacturing and supply responsibilities and stands to collect up to $4 million in development and approval milestones, as much as $255 million in sales-related milestones, and royalties of 22% on net sales.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ocugen?
Europe is being handled in-house. Roughly two weeks ago the company appointed Jolanda Crombach as General Manager of its European subsidiary. Based in Amsterdam, the unit will coordinate planned marketing applications on the continent and will also cover Phase 3 development of OCU410 plus any future commercial rollout there.
A Shareholder Vote Pushed to December
Financing remains the persistent counterweight to the clinical roadmap. A proposal to create 250 million additional common shares has been deferred; the extraordinary shareholder meeting is now scheduled for 22 December 2026, with 30 October 2026 set as the new record date for voting eligibility.
The delay lands alongside another signal that has weighed on sentiment: a share sale by CEO Shankar Musunuri about two weeks ago, covering 468,727 directly held and 57,264 indirectly held shares, executed under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 trading plan.
Until the first OCU400 study data arrive in early 2027, the company will need secured funding to keep the pipeline on track toward its targeted filings. The calendar is set; the bridge to it is what the market is still pricing.
