Nvidia's Order Book Looks Bulletproof; Its Delivery Pipeline Is Anything But
Published on 10/30/2026 at 03:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deNvidia is discovering that demand is the easy part. Converting it into shipped product — past export controls, substrate bottlenecks and antitrust lawyers — is where the work begins.
Chief executive Jensen Huang said the company examined whether Megaspeed International diverted AI chips into China, calling the Singapore-based firm's business ties "normal and not unusual," according to Reuters. His remarks came a day after reports surfaced of a US investigation targeting a former Megaspeed executive. Two threads must be kept apart here: Nvidia's own review of shipping routes is not the same thing as the probe of an individual, and neither amounts to a finding against the chipmaker. A reported investigation is not proof of wrongdoing.
The scale of what is at stake in that channel was laid out in a Reuters report dated October 20. ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent together ordered more than 3 million of Nvidia's RTX PRO 5500 cards, a haul valued at over $35 billion. Nvidia, according to people cited by Reuters, could not guarantee it would fill the requested volumes in full. That shortfall is not automatically an export-control story — but it shows how many hurdles sit between customer appetite and actual delivery.
Capital Goes to the Factory Floor
On the manufacturing side, the company has already put money and partners on the table. On October 21 it announced agreements with IBIDEN, Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Unimicron aimed at lifting substrate capacity 2.5-fold over three years. It also committed a $1.1 billion capacity-reservation prepayment to KYEC for new test facilities in the US, while Amkor plans to expand advanced chip packaging capacity by more than 300% by the end of 2028.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?
Those moves target industrial availability rather than demand — and planned capacity is not yet usable capacity. Execution by the partner network is what investors will be watching.
A $3 Billion Bet, and a Second Probe
Alongside the supply questions, Nvidia is widening its ties to Meta. On Monday it said it would invest $3 billion in Meta's share offering, an announced commitment rather than a completed investment. The expanded partnership covers Meta's Muse AI models, and Meta intends to scale up its use of Nvidia infrastructure. An investment announcement, of course, is not booked revenue.
Competition watchdogs form a separate risk lane. Reuters reported Tuesday that the US Department of Justice has raised questions about Nvidia's planned acquisition of Hugging Face as well as other deals, stakes and sales practices. As with the Megaspeed matter, scrutiny is not evidence of misconduct.
November 17 Is the Next Fixed Marker
The quarter closed on Sunday, and Nvidia has scheduled its conference call on third-quarter fiscal 2027 results for November 17, 2026. Until then, the task for investors is to keep three things distinct: what the company says about policing its supply chain, a capital commitment that has been announced but not closed, and a capacity build-out that has been promised but not yet delivered.
