Nvidia's Huang Rejects AI Doom Warnings as Washington Clears H200 Sales to China

Huang dismisses AI doomsday warnings, as Nvidia's H200 gets a China export green light with a 25% fee and chip sales are forecast to double next year.

Jensen Huang has no patience for predictions of AI apocalypse. In an interview with CBS, the Nvidia chief executive dismissed warnings about existential risk as unscientific, putting the odds of artificial intelligence destroying the world by 2030 at zero percent. His answer to calls for a slower, more cautious rollout is blunt: keep building, and rely on conventional engineering discipline rather than new regulatory brakes.

That stance places him at odds with some of the most prominent voices in the industry. Senior figures at OpenAI and Anthropic have pushed for binding guardrails and a measured pace of model development, spurred in part by earlier warnings from safety researchers about risks that could slip beyond human control. Huang considers such scenarios irresponsible. Existing liability law, in his view, already covers the ground, and careful technical work can contain whatever dangers emerge. Nvidia, accordingly, is pressing ahead on its own infrastructure without easing off the accelerator.

A 25% Fee and an Open Door to the H200

Washington has handed the chipmaker a measure of political backing. Sales of the H200 to China will carry a 25 percent fee, and the US administration simultaneously announced a new initiative to promote the technology sector while rejecting attempts to artificially restrain its growth. The export green light could deliver meaningful momentum. Tight restrictions had noticeably crimped Nvidia's business in the world's second-largest market, giving local Chinese competitors room to expand their share. With the H200 cleared for shipment, the company can once again serve Chinese cloud providers more directly.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

The diplomatic dimension is moving in parallel. Huang and OpenAI chief Sam Altman are reported to be attending a state banquet hosted by US President Donald Trump at the White House for Chinese leader Xi Jinping — a gathering seen as a barometer for future US rules governing the global semiconductor trade. On the same day, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an order advancing requirements for emergency shutdowns of AI systems, a move that touches advanced model developers and hardware suppliers alike, since safety architectures could face closer oversight going forward.

Order Books Full, Output Set to Double

None of this has dented the company's growth ambitions. Huang said publicly on Thursday, in remarks to CNBC, that Nvidia expects to double chip sales next year, a forecast that underscores how much computing power AI applications continue to demand. The confidence rests on demand for the newest processor generations. Back in August, Nvidia reported that its Vera Rubin platform was in full production with leading cloud providers and data center operators including Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud. The massive spending by large cloud customers on new data centers remains the engine behind that trajectory.

Piper Sandler Keeps Its $300 Target

Wall Street is still on board. Piper Sandler reaffirmed its Overweight rating on 10 September with a price target of 300 US dollars. The stock closed Friday's session at 193.10 euros, a gain of 1.1 percent on the day, leaving it 4.6 percent below its 52-week high of 202.50 euros. For shareholders, the open question is whether the company can sustain its rapid delivery pace while continuing to navigate the geopolitical conditions attached to its international business.
