Novo Nordisk's Pipeline Scorecard: Three Regulatory Tracks, One Earnings Date

Novo Nordisk faces a busy regulatory calendar: a CHMP opinion on Kyinsu, an FDA review of Denecimig and a Q4 CagriSema decision, with Q3 results due 4 November.

Novo Nordisk enters the final stretch of 2026 with a regulatory and clinical calendar that is unusually crowded — and unusually easy to misread. Kyinsu, Denecimig and CagriSema each sit at a different stage of the approval process, and none of them amounts to a final authorization. The company's nine-month results, scheduled for release on 4 November, will be the first hard test of how the underlying business is performing while those processes run their course.

Kyinsu: a committee nod, not a green light

The CHMP, the European Medicines Agency's responsible committee, voted on 16 October in favour of amending the terms of Kyinsu's existing marketing authorization. That is a recommendation attached to a product already on the market, not a first-time approval, and it does not by itself change anything: the European Commission's decision was still pending. Investors should treat the positive vote as a regulatory waypoint whose reach is clearly bounded — no revenue or profit effect can be quantified from it yet.

Denecimig: a different kind of hold-up

Denecimig tells a separate story. On 2 October Novo Nordisk disclosed that the US Food and Drug Administration was still reviewing the haemophilia A candidate after remedial work at a manufacturing site. According to the company, the delay did not affect its financial outlook for 2026, and it continues to target a US launch in the first half of 2027 — a corporate ambition rather than a confirmed market entry.

Lumping Kyinsu and Denecimig together as "approval progress" would blur two distinct procedural situations: one is a positive committee opinion on existing terms, the other an ongoing review tied to factory fixes.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Novo Nordisk?

CagriSema: the data behind the debate

CagriSema, still an investigational drug, carries its own set of expectations. Novo Nordisk expects an FDA decision on the weight-management application in the fourth quarter of 2026 — a date to watch, not a foregone clearance.

The clinical backdrop comes from post-hoc analyses of the REDEFINE 1 trial, presented at the annual meeting of the Menopause Society. Among women who stayed on treatment, CagriSema produced an average weight loss of 25.0% after 68 weeks, against 3.0% for placebo. The caveat matters: those figures apply to the analysed subgroup and cannot simply be extrapolated to the full study population. The overall trial result had shown a 22.7% reduction, short of the 25% Novo Nordisk was targeting, and the supplementary analysis does not erase that gap.

Two analysts, two conclusions

Brokerage views on the stock diverge even where the direction of travel agrees. Nordea reaffirmed its buy rating on 9 October and lifted its price target to DKK 380 from DKK 350, citing a stronger-than-expected launch of the Wegovy tablet and upcoming study readouts. Oddo BHF also raised its target — but kept its recommendation at "Neutral."

Novo Nordisk at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The distinction is the point: a higher price target is not the same thing as a more positive call, and the reasoning behind each move deserves more attention than the arrow's direction.

What 4 November actually settles

When Novo Nordisk reports results for the first nine months of 2026 on 4 November, the Wegovy tablet momentum Nordea highlighted will be a key reference point. That report speaks to the commercial side of the ledger; the CagriSema data and the pending regulatory files speak to the pipeline. Both feed into how the stock is valued, yet they answer different questions — and neither substitutes for a final approval.
