Nebius Stock: A 50-Megawatt US Footprint, an Inference Acquisition and the Regulatory Bill That Came With the Boom

Nebius closed Friday's session at EUR 215.65, a 4.3% advance that had little to do with anything the company itself said or did. The tailwind came from across the Atlantic: softer US employment data eased inflation worries, and investors rotated back into growth-heavy technology names. The Nasdaq added 0.95% and the broader tech sector 0.99%, and Nebius rode the wave. It was a reminder of how tightly the equity's daily fortunes remain tethered to the mood of the wider sector — and how much of its story still rests on execution rather than headlines.
That execution has been busy. Over the past week, the company stitched together two deals that speak to a single strategy: secure the physical layer of AI compute, then sharpen the software that runs on top of it.
Twelve Years, 50 Megawatts, One US Site
The larger of the two moves is a binding agreement with AIB Data Centers, signed midweek, that hands Nebius access to 50 megawatts of critical IT capacity for an initial term of twelve years. The space sits inside a data center campus in the southeastern United States, and Nebius intends to use it for model training and inference workloads. According to AIB, a substantial share of the development cost will be covered by customer prepayments, project debt and preferred equity — a financing structure that shifts part of the capital burden away from Nebius's own balance sheet.
Buying the Team Behind the Throughput
A day later, the company announced the acquisition of Inferize, a specialist in inference optimization. The technology and the engineering team will be folded into Nebius Token Factory, the platform Nebius has positioned as its inference offering. The stated goal is to speed up production-grade inference applications and squeeze more utilization out of existing GPU capacity. Neither side disclosed the purchase price or any financial terms.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?
Taken together, the two announcements sketch a familiar playbook for a capital-intensive AI infrastructure player: capacity first, efficiency second. For investors, the sequencing matters. In this market, announcements alone fade quickly unless they convert into measurable, revenue-generating compute.
The Compliance Bill Arrives in New Jersey
Not every development this month was a win. On September 22, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection issued a $1.07 million penalty against DataOne for operating 62 natural gas generators without a permit. DataOne is the operator, not Nebius — but the Vineland facility in question was built for Nebius. The fine stands as a cautionary data point: as data center construction accelerates, regulatory friction tends to follow, and permitting risk is now part of the cost of speed.
Analysts Line Up Behind the Story
Institutional opinion has swung decisively positive. On September 24, BNP Paribas upgraded the stock from Neutral to Outperform and lifted its price target sharply, from $260 to $399. Days later, on September 30, William Blair's Jason Ader initiated coverage with an Outperform rating. The endorsements reflect confidence that Nebius can carve out a durable position as a specialized compute provider — and the $399 target shows just how much future earnings power is already being discounted into the share price.
That kind of valuation leaves little room for operational missteps. Justifying such ambitious targets requires the booked data center capacity to be monetized seamlessly and profitably.
What the 193% Run Leaves Behind
Nebius has already climbed 193% since the start of the year, a distance that colors every subsequent move. The combination of secured infrastructure and targeted technology bolt-ons strengthens the foundation, and demand for compute shows no sign of cooling. But the elevated valuation cuts both ways: any turn in the broader market environment, or any permitting process that slows the expansion, could hit the stock disproportionately hard.
Friday demonstrated how powerful the market's leverage can be when sentiment cooperates. The real test, though, lies in flawless execution of the buildout — and in turning megawatts and engineering talent into revenue the current multiple can live with.
