Nebius Stock: A 454% Revenue Jump, a Dutch Government Meeting, and the Contracts That Haven't Become Revenue Yet
Published on 10/20/2026 at 04:21 | Editorial boerse-global.deNebius shares rose 2.9% yesterday as AI infrastructure names recovered, with Reuters attributing the sector-wide move to investors returning to AI-related stocks and falling oil prices adding support. That bounce is a sentiment shift, not fresh evidence of the company's underlying strength — which is why the more instructive developments this week sit away from the tape: a meeting with the Dutch prime minister, a set of British compute deals, and a revenue line that grew 454% while capital spending ran into the billions.
The government meeting and the Rotterdam caveat
Prime Minister Rob Jetten and Willemijn Aerdts met Nebius chief Arkady Volozh to discuss access to AI computing power for Dutch companies and institutions, according to Computable. Cooperation, AI skills and the use of such applications were also on the agenda. Nebius runs AI cloud infrastructure and operates its own facility in Finland, among other assets. The talks show that access to compute capacity concerns policymakers as well as commercial customers — but no additional order or funding commitment can be inferred from what was discussed.
The planned data centre campus in Rotterdam carries similar caveats. Nebius has signed a letter of intent for a substantial share of the project, yet permits, financing and binding contracts are all still outstanding. That makes it an expansion prospect, not secured operating capacity.
Where the growth actually shows up
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?
The capital intensity of that buildout is visible in the numbers. Revenue climbed 454% year on year in the second quarter of 2026, while Nebius spent roughly USD 5.7 billion on property, plant, equipment and intangible assets. Growth alone therefore isn't the metric that matters most — the timing of customer payments and how much of the expansion Nebius must pre-finance are just as important.
Customer prepayments ease that burden. They covered about 70% of second-quarter contracts and 50–60% of the associated investments, and Nebius expects more than USD 9 billion in customer prepayments for 2026 overall. The company also raised capital through convertible bonds in August, so its funding does not rest on early customer payments alone. That is why concerns about financing costs remain relevant to the valuation despite the strong top-line growth.
British labs, and a target that assumes execution
Closer to the business than the sector rally is Thursday's announcement that Nebius has struck compute agreements with several young British AI labs, per Tech.eu. Neither the names of the labs nor the contract values were disclosed. Such deals are more tangible than a general return of risk appetite because they concern specific business relationships — but without stated values their economic weight cannot be quantified. They read as a positive commercial signal, not as evidence of a particular revenue or profit contribution.
Analyst support arrived separately. Truist reiterated a buy rating with a USD 355 price target, arguing that an enterprise value-to-expected-sales multiple of 4.5 for 2028 is justified by anticipated above-average growth. A target of that kind states an expectation; it is neither a reported result nor a promise about the share price. The same holds for the buy recommendation reported on Sunday with the identical USD 355 target, which media coverage cited as an impulse behind the AI infrastructure recovery.
Truist's case rests on Nebius delivering the announced expansion operationally. Many second-quarter contracts are only due to provide capacity at the end of 2026 and should mainly contribute revenue in 2027 — contract signing and revenue recognition fall in different periods. The Dutch talks widen the political context of those growth plans, but the economic test is unchanged: Nebius must bring capacity online on time and convert expected demand into revenue. Government access can accompany that process; only the buildout and the revenue ramp will prove it.
