Mercedes-Benz is preparing a product offensive at the Paris Motor Show even as it navigates labor friction, shareholder shifts and a stock price hovering just above its yearly floor. The Stuttgart automaker confirmed it will stage several world premieres at the industry gathering running from October 12 to 18, with its press conference set for October 12 at 14:45 CEST.

The lineup spans the compact and luxury ends of the range. Mercedes-Benz will unveil new versions of the GLA and GLE SUVs, alongside the sporty AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and the electric VLE. That mix covers high-volume core series, battery-electric models and the upper luxury segment in a single showcase.

Domestic Gains Offer a Bright Spot

The exhibition news lands against a mixed operational backdrop. In its home market, the brand bucked the broader European automotive trend, capturing an 8.4 percent market share in Germany in September 2026, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt). New registrations climbed 6.2 percent year over year.

International demand has also held up in key regions. Mercedes-Benz India reported record deliveries of 5,422 vehicles for the third quarter of 2026, a 6 percent increase from the prior-year period. For the January-to-September stretch, the local subsidiary handed over 15,190 cars to customers, up 8 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.

Washington Talks and a Partnership Renewal

Trade policy in the crucial U.S. market remains a live issue. According to media reports, discussions are underway — involving U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno, among others — to ensure the Stuttgart group is not excluded from a draft law targeting vehicles built in China. No final legislative decision has been reached.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Mercedes-Benz?

On the operational front, Mercedes-Benz signaled continuity by announcing an extension of its strategic business partnership with FUCHS SE.

Buyout Program and Labor Tensions

Management is pressing ahead with structural adjustments. Roughly a week ago, the company said it expects to relaunch its voluntary severance program for German employees in December. The offer is aimed primarily at staff in indirect functions, though executives may also receive individual packages.

Those plans have not gone unchallenged. At a works meeting on September 28, the board reiterated demands for concessions from the workforce, according to tagesschau, which reported that longer working hours and possible plant closures were on the table.

Ownership has shifted as well. A filing dated September 25 showed BlackRock holding a voting rights stake of 5.87 percent, or 6.04 percent when instrument positions are included.

Earnings Calendar and Analyst View

Attention now turns to the quarterly reporting cycle. Mercedes-Benz will hold its pre-close call for the third quarter on October 8, 2026, followed by the full interim report and an analyst conference on October 28, 2026.

Market participants remain cautious ahead of those numbers. The stock closed yesterday at EUR 40.31, a gain of 1.0 percent, after earlier touching a new 52-week low of EUR 39.41. Today the shares were up 1.0 percent at EUR 40.30.

Not everyone is bearish on the fundamentals despite the price weakness. Deutsche Bank Research maintained its "Buy" rating on September 29, though it trimmed its price target to EUR 70 from EUR 73. The central question for investors is how quickly the announced model lines and cost discipline take hold in a competitive landscape.
