LVMH Wins Paris Council Backing for Champs-Élysées Street Revamp as Buyback Disclosures and Hermès Probe Run in Parallel
Published on 11/08/2026 at 19:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deThe Paris city council has greenlit a proposal from Louis Vuitton to both bankroll and oversee the redesign of two streets flanking the luxury house's planned flagship store near the Champs-Élysées, according to a report in Le Monde. The streets in question are the Rue de Bassano and the Rue Galilée.
The arrangement has stirred debate over how much sway a private company should hold over public space, with Louis Vuitton set to take charge of the project's management as well as its financing. A company spokesperson, speaking to the newspaper, characterised the plan as a restoration project. The approval covers work in the immediate surroundings of the future store.
Buyback Activity Reported to AMF
Separately, LVMH confirmed on Tuesday that it had repurchased shares under its authorised buyback programme, disclosing the transactions to the French financial regulator, the AMF. The filing covers dealings from 26 to 30 October, during which the group bought 50,000 of its own shares on each of the five trading days. According to the company, the stock is earmarked for cancellation. The disclosure did not specify a final size for the capital measure.

Luxury Stocks Bounce After US Midterms
Sentiment around the shares brightened midweek, with LVMH climbing on Wednesday as European luxury names rallied following the American midterm elections. Press reports linked the sector-wide move to easing political and trade-policy uncertainty. Over a seven-day stretch, the stock advanced 7.0%, mirroring that broader recovery.
Training Milestone and AI Rollout
On the corporate front, LVMH flagged the graduation ceremony for this year's cohort at its Institut des Métiers d'Excellence on Friday. The training programme has schooled a total of 4,300 apprentices since 2014, per company figures.
Artificial intelligence is another front where the group is pressing ahead. On Tuesday, media covered the third "Business of Tomorrow" gathering in Paris, which drew close to 350 attendees and accompanied the continued rollout of the "AI for ALL" programme. LVMH says on its official press page that the initiative is designed to accelerate its own AI transformation.
Hermès Share Inquiry Continues
Meanwhile, LVMH's role in the affair of the Hermès shares held by heir Nicolas Puech remains the subject of French investigations, as reported by Le Monde on 30 October. Paris investigators are examining whether LVMH acquired the stock without Puech's knowledge and in coordination with his former wealth manager. According to the report, the investigating judge plans to summon Bernard Arnault for questioning. LVMH has declined to comment on ongoing proceedings.
