LVMH Extends Winning Streak as Paris Sign-Off and Shrinking Fashion Sales Tell a Divided Story
Published on 11/08/2026 at 04:13 | Editorial boerse-global.deLVMH shares have now risen for four consecutive trading sessions, with the advance attributed in media reports to a recovery in European equity indices and a sector-wide rally in luxury names rather than to any fresh company-specific announcement. Over the past seven sessions the stock has gained 7.0%, though it gave back 0.6% on Friday.
The broader market backdrop has done the heavy lifting during the rebound, which media reports have also linked to optimism surrounding the US midterm election results. Beneath that headline move, however, the group's recent disclosures sketch a more mixed picture — spanning share buyback filings, an artificial intelligence push, a creative appointment and a fashion division still under pressure.
Buyback paperwork, not a new programme
On Tuesday, LVMH said it had filed its declaration on transactions in its own shares with the French financial regulator AMF, covering dealings between 26 and 30 October. The notice's text carried no aggregate totals for the transactions. The filing documents trades already carried out and contained no announcement of a new repurchase programme.
A megastore, a street redesign and a debate
Separately, Le Monde reported that Louis Vuitton has secured the Paris city council's approval for street modifications around its planned megastore on the Champs-Élysées. The group's flagship brand intends to redesign the Rue de Bassano and the Rue Galilée at its own expense. The council gave the green light on 7 October, and the proposal has stirred debate over the influence private companies wield over public space.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying LVMH?
Under the arrangement, Louis Vuitton is covering the cost of maintaining the planters, according to company statements, while the city is to submit the construction application itself.
New brand voice at Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton has also created a new brand stewardship role. Hector Muelas took up the position of Chief Brand Creative Officer on 1 November. According to media reports, he is responsible for brand storytelling and reports to deputy chief executive Damien Bertrand.
Fashion and leather goods contract
The corporate news lands against a softer trading backdrop. On 12 October, LVMH reported organic revenue growth of 1% for the third quarter of 2026. In the fashion and leather goods division, however, revenue fell 5% on an organic basis, with the company pointing to a less dynamic environment in China.

AI push reaches its third edition
Internally, the group continued the rollout of its "AI for ALL" programme on Tuesday.
