Lenzing's €300 Million Rights Issue Nears Its Deadline as Denim Network Expands
Published on 10/18/2026 at 10:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deLenzing is running two timelines at once. One is financial: a fully underwritten €300 million rights issue that reaches its subscription deadline on October 20. The other is operational: a widening denim partnership built around TENCEL Lyocell HV100, now spanning close to 50 weaving mills across 13 countries.
Neither development explains Friday's 3.6% share price decline, and the company has offered no evidence linking the two. Investors are left to weigh a capital measure with fixed terms against a product initiative whose revenue contribution cannot yet be quantified.
Board Members Exercise Their Rights
Chief executive Georg Kasperkovitz and board member Christian Skilich exercised subscription rights from the capital increase on October 12, with the disclosures published on Tuesday. Both participated personally in the measure. That documents management's own involvement — nothing more. It does not constitute a forecast for future business performance, and it does not answer whether higher market prices will flow through to earnings.
The rights issue itself carries a subscription price of €8.65 per new share and a 10:9 subscription ratio. The subscription period is scheduled to close on October 20, the same day an international private placement of unsubscribed new shares is planned. Settlement, delivery and the start of trading are expected from October 23, subject to the capital increase being entered in the commercial register. The guarantee behind the raise does not replace those remaining procedural steps.

A Denim Rollout With a Japanese Partner
On the product side, Lenzing announced a third group of manufacturing partners and, together with Japanese denim maker Kaihara, brought the "REMOD Collection" to market. The company had also flagged a presentation at Kingpins Amsterdam on October 14–15, so the Kaihara tie-up sits within a broader showcase of the collection and the enlarged network rather than standing alone.
What is documented is the expansion of the partner circle. What remains unquantified is any resulting revenue or earnings contribution.
Berenberg's Cut Still Sets the Bar
The earnings question predates both announcements. On October 2, Berenberg downgraded Lenzing from Buy to Hold and slashed its price target to €17.00 from €29.50, citing among other factors the failure of higher cotton and viscose prices to show up in results. That critique concerns a different matter than board participation in the raise: the test is whether favourable pricing translates into business results. A capital measure and operational progress are not the same thing, and the exercise of subscription rights does not refute the analyst's argument.
Lenzing at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The next hard data point arrives on November 5, when Lenzing's financial calendar schedules third-quarter 2026 results. Until then, the rights issue's completion and the denim network's expansion remain separate threads — each verifiable on its own terms, and neither a substitute for the earnings proof the market is waiting for.
