Deutsche Bank cut its price target on Lenzing from EUR 22 to EUR 12.70 on Wednesday, according to media reports, while leaving its "Hold" rating untouched. The move landed without a downgrade attached — and without any established link to the 2.5% decline in the shares that followed on Friday.

The reduced target now sits well below the EUR 8.65 per share that management board member Georg Kasperkovitz paid for his own stock. In a mandatory disclosure published Tuesday, Lenzing said Kasperkovitz acquired 16,362 shares on 23 October as part of the subscription-rights capital increase.

A Capital Structure Now Fully Mapped

Lenzing also published its updated voting rights total, which comes to 73,374,542. The new share capital stands at EUR 76,204,702.90, with the change effective as of 22 October. That figure establishes the reference base against which holdings and influence rights are now measured — a matter of clarity about the capital structure rather than any signal on revenue, profit or future earnings power.

Following completion of the capital increase, the syndicate of B&C Group and Suzano continues to hold roughly 52.25% of voting rights, the company said. Suzano Holding picked up a direct stake of around 0.80% in the course of the raise, while Goldman Sachs holds 5.86% of the shares according to company figures.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?

The syndicate's continued majority matters for the balance of power. What it does not do is settle the valuation question. Ownership ties can give investors orientation, but they are no substitute for evidence of how the business itself is performing — and reading a stable majority as an automatic investment case skips the decisive step.

Heiligenkreuz Slips to Early 2027

On the operational side, Lenzing has pushed back the planned closure of its Heiligenkreuz site in southern Burgenland. A company spokesperson confirmed to the APA news agency that the shutdown will now take place in the first quarter of 2027 rather than at the end of 2026, with the production transfer to other sites cited as the reason. ORF reported on the change on 22 October.

Around 285 people work at the facility. Lenzing is in talks with roughly 30 interested parties about a possible takeover of the site, though any such deal remains under discussion and the closure is still the plan.

The delay is neither an all-clear nor proof that conditions have worsened. It shows that the timetable for the intended shutdown has shifted; investors should not read an economic success into it before the effects become tangible. The date is not the whole story — execution is.

Lenzing at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The Next Real Test Lands on 5 November

Lenzing's next scheduled release is 5 November, when the company reports third-quarter 2026 results. Those figures carry far more weight than further formal stake disclosures. The point is not to deny the capital measure its significance; the error would lie in treating its completion as an answer to the earnings question.

By the same token, the day's negative price move should not become a substitute for company analysis. The more defensible stance is to acknowledge the formal clarity while keeping the economic assessment separate from it. Until the results arrive, the new voting-rights base argues for better orientation — not yet for better returns.
