Kontron Wraps Up Buyback, Banks EUR 126 Million for Software Deals
Published on 10/05/2026 at 15:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deKontron has closed the books on its share repurchase program, confirming the final tally just as fresh capital arrives to fund its next round of expansion.
The company bought back a total of 1,431,736 of its own shares through the program's completion on September 30. That works out to roughly 2.24% of its share capital. Excluding ancillary costs, the total purchase price came to EUR 30,062,417.89.
The stock traded modestly lower on the day of the announcement, slipping 1.6% to EUR 20.76. The buyback's conclusion marks the end of the company's most recent foray into the capital markets.
Insider Buying Accompanies the Wind-Down
Activity wasn't limited to the corporate level. CEO Hannes Niederhauser picked up 3,000 Kontron shares on September 29 at EUR 20.38 apiece, a personal wager on the company's trajectory.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Kontron?
The repurchase program's closure coincides with a far larger influx of cash. During the third quarter, Kontron received EUR 126 million from congatec, stemming from the deconsolidation of the module business. Management has been explicit about where that money is headed: toward strategic acquisitions in the higher-margin Software + Solutions segment.
New CTO Takes the Technology Reins
Kontron also reshuffled its top ranks. Effective September 30, Dr.-Ing. Martin Rausch joined the management board as CTO, assuming global responsibility for technology across the group.
Analysts have taken note of the strengthened position. Pareto Securities raised its price target on the stock from EUR 28 to EUR 30 on Friday, according to media reports, while reiterating its buy rating. The brokerage tied its more bullish stance to the company's prospects following its capital markets day.
