Ionic Rare Earths Jumps as London Listing Plans and Belfast Recycling Project Take Shape
Published on 10/05/2026 at 17:50 | Editorial boerse-global.deShares of Ionic Rare Earths kicked off the trading week with a sharp advance, climbing as much as 23% to 0.6350 AUD at one point on Monday, up from Friday's close of 0.5150 AUD. No fresh company-specific announcement accompanied the move, leaving investors to focus on a pair of strategic developments unveiled in the preceding days.
Dual Listing Ambitions Target London's AIM
The company confirmed last week its intention to seek admission to trading on London's AIM growth market during the fourth quarter of 2026, a step that would sit alongside its existing quotation on the Australian Securities Exchange. To steer the application process, Ionic Rare Earths has enlisted Peel Hunt LLP and Canaccord Genuity Limited as advisers. Management frames the move as a way to broaden its investor base across the United Kingdom and Europe while supporting its growth and financing strategy, including efforts to commercialize magnet recycling at its Belfast site. Any admission remains subject to customary regulatory approvals. The market initially greeted the news coolly, with the stock shedding 5% on October 1, the day the plan was made public.
Belfast Recycling Facility Moves Forward
Running in parallel with the listing push, subsidiary Ionic Technologies lodged a planning application with Belfast City Council on September 29 for a proposed magnet recycling and refining facility. The project carries an estimated investment of 89 million British pounds and is expected to generate 55 new jobs in Northern Ireland while safeguarding 25 existing positions.

Funding Needs Loom Behind the Strategy
The London initiative comes against a backdrop of persistent capital requirements. According to media reports on the company's fiscal 2026 annual report, Ionic Rare Earths posted a net loss of 14.9 million AUD as of September 17. Cash and liquid funds at year-end stood at 3.5 million AUD, and the report flagged a material uncertainty regarding the company's ability to continue as a going concern. A European listing would, in this light, open fresh avenues for raising capital.
Investors now have a fixed date to mark: the next quarterly report, scheduled for October 28, which should offer detailed insight into recent cash movements and operational progress across the company's projects.
