innoscripta Draws Line Between Past Conduct and Present Business as Tax Probe Weighs on Shares
Published on 10/06/2026 at 18:20 | Editorial boerse-global.deinnoscripta is working to convince investors that a tax investigation touching its research-grant advisory work concerns former employees and past mandates, not the company that exists today. The Munich-based firm has issued a detailed account of how grant applications were handled, part of a broader effort to contain the fallout from raids on its offices and those of affiliated group companies.
The searches were carried out under two orders issued by the Schwäbisch Gmünd local court. Prosecutors suspect the company of aiding clients in obtaining unjustified tax benefits tied to research-grant applications. innoscripta has said the alleged misconduct involves individual staff members and specific client engagements, and that one employee connected to the matter left the firm several years ago.
How the Company Says the Process Worked
Central to innoscripta's defense is a division of labor it laid out in a statement. The company prepares the applications; the final review of all data and the formal submission are handled by clients or their tax advisers. That structure, the company argues, limits its own exposure.
Management has also stressed that day-to-day operations continue without restriction and that, based on current knowledge, no transactions from the present financial year are caught up in the probe. The company says it is cooperating fully with authorities. Whether any financial consequences will materialize remains an open question — innoscripta itself says it cannot yet make a final assessment.
Market Still Searching for a Floor
The uncertainty has left its mark on the share price. German trading has the stock at EUR 45.50, down 50 percent since the start of the year, giving the company a market capitalization of EUR 885.00 million. On the day, the shares were quoted at EUR 45.60, a decline of 0.9 percent.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying innoscripta?
The path to that level has been turbulent. After a slump the previous week, the stock staged an interim rebound at the start of this week, according to media reports. Investors also reported that the shares were temporarily difficult to trade at some brokers — a sign of how strained liquidity became during the worst of the selling.
The 52-week low of EUR 31.05 now serves as the key technical line. Holding above it would keep the possibility of stabilization alive; a break below could open the door to a fresh test of lower levels.
What Could Turn Sentiment Around
Two developments could shift the narrative. The first is the investigation itself: if authorities confirm that the allegations are confined to earlier years and a small number of individuals, confidence in the current business model could gradually return — provided the operating business is shown to be unaffected in the present financial year.
The second is a planned product presentation for shareholders, to be held in Tutzing. Management extended the invitation as a way to refocus attention on innoscripta's technology and new business. Dates for the event are to be announced at short notice. A convincing showing could give market participants evidence that the company's forward-looking story is intact.
The Reputation Stakes
The risks run in the other direction as well. In the advisory business around research grants, an unblemished reputation is the most important working capital a firm has. If the investigation drags on or spreads to additional client mandates, existing and prospective customers could lose confidence. Should clients hold back mandates out of caution, or steer work to competitors, operating growth would stall.
Add to that the possibility of financial penalties whose scale cannot be calculated at this stage. In such an environment, sustained investor reticence could put a brake on any recovery for months.
Until the product presentation takes place, market participants will scrutinize every official statement on the investigation for signs that the separation between past conduct and current operations holds.
