Infineon opened a new office and laboratory building at its Warstein site on Wednesday, a project developed by GARBE Institutional Capital and BC Partners Real Estate with an investment volume in the mid-double-digit millions of euros. Infineon occupies the premises as tenant. Around 350 employees are expected to work there, with laboratory space covering roughly 1,200 square metres.

The opening came in a turbulent week for the stock. On Friday, Infineon shares lost 4.5% as a weak outlook from Intel and concerns over the financing of AI infrastructure weighed on European chipmakers, according to Reuters. Intel guided for fourth-quarter 2026 revenue of USD 15 to 16 billion, below analyst expectations. Investors were also rattled by the strain that heavy data-centre spending at Amazon and Alphabet could place on free cash flow, media reports said. The stock edged up 0.3% today.

Susquehanna Trims Target

Analyst Christopher Rolland of Susquehanna had already cut his price target for Infineon on 21 October, to EUR 85 from EUR 100, while keeping his "Positive" rating. A market report dated 26 October pointed to rising yields, elevated US inflation and doubts about the profitability of AI investments as burdens on the sector — putting both financing costs and the economic returns on those investments under scrutiny.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?

Villach Fab Wins EU Green Light

Roughly a week before the Warstein opening, Infineon announced plans to invest around EUR 1.1 billion at its Villach site through 2034. The plant is slated to host the world's first high-volume production of gallium nitride power semiconductors on 300-millimetre wafers, with output scheduled to begin at the end of 2027. The European Commission approved EUR 319 million in Austrian state aid for the project.

On the product side, Infineon launched LinearFET on 27 October. The MOSFET technology targets power distribution systems in electric and software-defined vehicles. The company also unveiled a reference design for a power distribution board that allows GaN-based high-voltage intermediate bus converters for 800-volt systems in AI data centres to be evaluated.

Physical AI Lab With Microsoft and NVIDIA

On 22 October, UnternehmerTUM Accelerator, Microsoft, Infineon and NVIDIA jointly launched the Physical AI Growth Lab. The programme is aimed at European start-ups working in physical AI, robotics and industrial AI, and runs from January to April 2027.

Investors will get their next look at the company's finances on 10 November, when Infineon is due to publish results for the fourth quarter and the 2026 fiscal year. The company lists the date as provisional in its financial calendar.
