Infineon's Thai Backend Plant Ramps as C2i Deal Closes and Jefferies Backs 96-Euro Target

Infineon has flipped the switch on a new backend manufacturing site in Thailand's Samut Prakan region near Bangkok, adding geographic breadth to a production network that the Munich chipmaker is steadily rebalancing. The facility currently employs roughly 350 people and has been built in modular fashion to absorb future growth. As the first building ramps up, headcount is expected to climb to about 1,000, and the site's footprint leaves room for as many as five modules — flexibility the company can lean on when demand spikes.
The stock changed hands at EUR 64.59 on the day of that news, a gain of 1.2%. The prior session had closed at EUR 64.18.
C2i Integration and a Power-Management Portfolio in Motion
Infineon has completed its acquisition of Bengaluru-based C2i Semiconductors, folding the specialist's team and expertise into its Power Systems division. The move is aimed squarely at software-defined power management and at rounding out the group's offering for demanding server infrastructure tied to AI data centers.
That deal sits alongside a broader push into energy efficiency and grid infrastructure. At the end of September, Infineon struck a collaboration with Eaton under which it supplies silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors for Eaton's medium-voltage solid-state transformer platform, MVSST 2.0. The project targets 800-volt DC power architectures for data centers in the Asia-Pacific region. Infineon also unveiled its PSOC Control C3 Performance Line of microcontrollers, designed for real-time control in power electronics and spanning server power supplies, solar installations and EV charging systems.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?
Automotive Cockpits Get a New Brain
On the vehicle side, Infineon introduced the TRAVEO CYT4EN microcontroller, aimed at instrument clusters and modern display applications in cars — and explicitly at the two-wheeler market as well. Chipmakers are responding to a trend that has digital displays migrating into cockpits even in price-sensitive vehicle classes. Powerful screens demand not only computing muscle but tight control over system costs and energy consumption, and integrating such controllers is gaining importance industry-wide as drivers expect more visual data and navigation content directly in their field of view.
Software is getting equal attention. On October 1, Infineon upgraded to Platinum membership in the Zephyr Project, a step meant to simplify and accelerate embedded development. Standardized interfaces are viewed across the industry as essential to shortening development cycles for connected vehicles.
Ownership Shift and Analyst Support
On the shareholder side, a formal change in reported voting rights: Norway's Ministry of Finance disclosed that the Norwegian state's stake slipped to 3.02% from 3.04%. Such adjustments by sovereign funds and institutional investors are routine on international exchanges and carry no tangible consequences for the company's operational direction or its innovation initiatives.
Sentiment in the market has found support in an assessment from Jefferies, which on September 30 reaffirmed its "Buy" rating with a price target of EUR 96. Observers point to Infineon's solid positioning in high-margin segments, with confidence resting in particular on the company's habit of serving technological trends in both the automotive sector and the artificial intelligence market early with its own components.
Chart watchers note the 50-day moving average sits at EUR 58.51. Technology stocks have repeatedly shown vulnerability to interest-rate and inflation worries in recent sessions, after weaker US labor market data last Friday initially brought relief; shifting macroeconomic factors have shaped trading, according to media reports.
November 10 Looms as the Next Hard Data Point
The next reliable gauge of business development arrives with the upcoming financial report. Infineon is scheduled to publish fourth-quarter and full-year figures on November 10, per media reports. Investors will get a read on how the new product launches and recent portfolio adjustments are flowing through to operating profit — and how the geographic repositioning of backend capacity and the reorientation of the divisions are affecting profitability.
