Hochtief Lands Sellafield Framework as Turner Joins $900 Million Air Force Program

A pair of contract wins on either side of the Atlantic has reinforced Hochtief's order pipeline, even as the German builder's shares rode a broader market wave to close Friday at EUR 405.80, up 2.2%.
The Essen-based construction and infrastructure group secured two significant framework agreements within days of each other. Its UK subsidiary, HOCHTIEF Infrastructure, was selected by Sellafield Ltd for Lot 2 of the so-called PACE framework at the British nuclear site. The deal carries an estimated total volume of up to GBP 1.5 billion and runs for as long as 15 years — a nine-year base term plus an option to extend by a further six. Formal award is expected once all outstanding contractual arrangements are finalized.
Almost simultaneously, U.S. subsidiary Turner Construction was named by the U.S. Air Force as one of eight companies chosen for the FARM III military construction program. That framework has a shared spending ceiling of USD 900 million, with individual task orders available to the selected partners through September 4, 2034.

Market Tailwinds Add to the Momentum
The contract announcements landed during a week of broadly supportive trading conditions. According to dpa-AFX, Hochtief was among the DAX names with AI exposure — alongside Infineon and Siemens Energy — that helped steady the index into the close of the trading week. Renewed enthusiasm for artificial intelligence themes gave European equities a lift, while softer-than-expected U.S. labor market data eased concerns about further interest rate hikes, according to Reuters. Declining oil prices and falling bond yields added to the tailwind across the wider market.
What Comes Next
Whether the robust order intake and the group's growing exposure to technology- and security-related infrastructure will show through in hard numbers is the question now occupying analysts. Hochtief is scheduled to publish results for the first nine months of the current financial year on November 5, 2026 — a date that will offer the next meaningful gauge of the company's operating health.
