Heidelberg Materials Draws Fresh Analyst Support as Nordic Deal and Q3 Update Loom

Heidelberg Materials has found itself back in favor with at least one major brokerage, even as the stock continues to trade well below its highs. RBC Capital Markets lifted its rating on the building materials group from "Sector Perform" to "Outperform" on Friday, though the firm trimmed its price target to EUR 211 from EUR 217. The upgrade lands after a prolonged stretch of weakness that has left the shares down 36 percent since the start of the year.
The move places RBC alongside other market watchers who remain constructive on the company despite recent downward revisions to their valuation models. Deutsche Bank Research had already cut its own target from EUR 220 to EUR 210 on Wednesday, while keeping its "Buy" recommendation intact. Both houses now point to meaningful upside relative to current trading levels.
That optimism was on display at the close of Friday's session, when Heidelberg Materials finished at EUR 142.60. The revised models, according to the analysts, reflect a shifting market environment but also reveal an attractive risk-reward profile at the discounted price.
A two-speed operating picture
Deutsche Bank analyst Jon Bell expects diverging trends on either side of the Atlantic when the company reports third-quarter figures. He projects organic growth of roughly two percent in the European business, while North America is seen expanding about five percent on its own steam. The gap underscores how differently construction markets are behaving: European projects are being held back in places by caution, whereas building activity overseas continues to offer steadier sales opportunities and underpins group profitability.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Heidelberg Materials?
RBC's Anthony Codling, for his part, flagged potential demand tailwinds from 2027 onward, driven by new projects, building permits and infrastructure spending.
Nordic expansion takes center stage
Running parallel to the analyst adjustments is Heidelberg Materials' push to grow through acquisition. Heidelberg Materials Nordics has agreed to buy the Swedish and Norwegian aggregates and asphalt operations belonging to NCC AB's Industry division. The package covers 106 aggregates sites and 44 asphalt mixing plants.
On a cash- and debt-free basis, the enterprise value comes to approximately SEK 5.5 billion. The deal strengthens the group's footprint in Northern Europe across core building-materials segments, though completion still hinges on approval from the relevant authorities.
The transaction follows a period of cautious capital management. Roughly two weeks ago, the building materials producer wrapped up the third tranche of its share buyback program.
Heidelberg Materials at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
All eyes on November 4
Investors now have a clear near-term marker: Heidelberg Materials will publish its third-quarter 2026 results on November 4, alongside a conference call for analysts. The interim report should show how closely the market's development tracks analyst expectations and how the business has held up against the broader economic backdrop.
Management will need to demonstrate whether North American operations can offset the drag in Europe, and how the integration timeline for the Scandinavian assets is shaping up. Only convincing operating signals are likely to help the stock establish a durable floor. At EUR 142.60, the shares sit 41 percent below their 52-week high of EUR 241.70.
