Heidelberg lands a North American offset order and an Austrian Jetfire 50 installation, sets SHIFT 2026, as shares sit at EUR 1.37, down 32% this year.

Heidelberg Druckmaschinen has picked up fresh business on both sides of the Atlantic, landing a North American offset deal while an Austrian customer brought one of its digital systems online — twin signals that the German press builder's core machinery franchise still has traction even as its share price languishes.

The US order comes from Route 1 Print, which is overhauling its sheetfed offset capacity. For Heidelberg, the contract puts its flagship technology into another American production floor and firms up utilization in the traditional press business, where large-format systems like the Speedmaster line have long served as the company's operational backbone. By signing on, Route 1 Print is betting on highly automated equipment to wring more efficiency out of its printing workflows.

Separately, Austria's Klampfer Druck has commissioned a Jetfire 50 digital printing system, with installation completed at the end of August. Klampfer aims to respond more nimbly to the shift toward shorter print runs and to fold the machine into Heidelberg's digital ecosystem. Neither party disclosed the financial terms of the deal. The project slots into Heidelberg's push toward hybrid production setups that marry conventional and digital techniques.

SHIFT 2026 on the Calendar, India Push Intensifies

Heidelberg has set the stage for its next technology showcase. The two-day SHIFT 2026 event opens October 6 in Heidelberg and continues October 7 at the Wiesloch-Walldorf production site, billed as the "Home of Print."

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Heidelberger Druckmaschinen?

On the international front, the company and its Gallus Group subsidiary confirmed Tuesday they will return to the LOUPE India 2026 trade fair, targeting the country's label and packaging market. Both plan to unveil regional technology premieres and deepen their footprint in the region.

The service side of the business is advancing in parallel. Heidelberg is steadily absorbing the customer base of manroland sheetfed, more than a month after integrating the unit. The integration of manroland sheetfed's lifecycle and service operations is proceeding on schedule, according to the company, with the goal of offering customers a single-source relationship — covering prepress, printing and finishing. At partners such as the printing and publishing house Zarbock, familiar contacts and service relationships remain in place. Heidelberg expects the key consolidation steps to wrap up within the next 18 months, a push designed to lock in recurring maintenance and service revenue.

Burkhard Takes the CFO Chair as Media Reports Point Up

Heidelberg's operational direction is getting a lift from mid-September media reports indicating business is running ahead of expectations for the current fiscal year, though no fresh figures or revised guidance accompanied those accounts.

Leadership is also changing. As announced roughly a month ago, Christoph Burkhard will join the executive board as chief financial officer on October 1, succeeding Volker Herdin. The incoming CFO is expected to bring important momentum to future capital allocation decisions.

Shares Stay Under Pressure

The market has yet to reward the operational progress. Heidelberg's stock closed Friday at EUR 1.37, down 0.4% on the day. Since the start of the year, the shares have shed 32%, though the price sits 6.4% above its 52-week low.
