Heidelberger Druckmaschinen has kicked off the trading week with a fresh customer win abroad, while simultaneously preparing to host its own technology showcase on home soil. Packaging and label printer Sade Ofset, based in Istanbul, has committed to the company's Prinect software platform, which the Turkish operation intends to use to unify prepress, printing and planning into a single, streamlined workflow.

The Turkish printer is also overhauling its sheetfed offset capacity, having swapped out two older presses for a Speedmaster CX 104. A management information system is slated to follow as the next step, deepening process control across the shop floor.

Investors greeted the news with restraint. Heidelberg shares changed hands at EUR 1.41 on Monday, up 0.4 percent on the day, though the stock has shed 30 percent since the start of the year. The prior Friday's session closed at the same EUR 1.41 mark, leaving the year-to-date decline at 31 percent — a gap explained by the timing of the two readings — after a weaker first quarter weighed on the valuation.

A Showcase in Heidelberg and Wiesloch-Walldorf

The company's attention now turns to SHIFT 2026, a two-day customer event beginning Tuesday, 6 October, at the halle02 venue in Heidelberg. The programme continues the following day at the "Home of Print" facility in Wiesloch-Walldorf. On the exhibition front, subsidiary Gallus Group has confirmed it will return to the LOUPE India trade fair to present regional technology debuts.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Heidelberger Druckmaschinen?

The Istanbul contract slots into a broader push to embed digital offerings across multiple printing segments. Beyond conventional sheetfed offset, Heidelberg is steering customers toward hybrid production setups. On 24 September, the company flagged rising appetite for industrial digital printing solutions across Eastern Europe, pointing to Slovenian print service provider Klampfer Druck, which has adopted the Jetfire 50 system to combine digital and offset output in a single hybrid operation.

Service Integration on Schedule

Alongside machine deliveries, management is pressing ahead with the expansion of its service arm. The global integration of manroland sheetfed's lifecycle and service activities is proceeding to plan, with the key implementation milestones expected to wrap up within 18 months. Heidelberg has named the printing and publishing house Zarbock as a reference customer for the forthcoming one-stop service offering.

Market commentary suggests the stock is in a holding pattern following the latest set of results. While future activity in the defence and battery storage segments has been floated as a possible catalyst down the road, no confirmed impact on the current share price has been established.

November Date Set for Hard Numbers

A firmer read on the company's trajectory arrives next month. Heidelberg has scheduled the release of its second-quarter figures and half-year report for fiscal 2026/2027 on 12 November 2026. That disclosure should clarify the extent to which recent machine placements and the service integration are feeding through to the bottom line.
