Healthineers Maps Out Its Independence While Barclays and Deutsche Bank Diverge on the Road Ahead
Published on 11/07/2026 at 16:23 | Editorial boerse-global.deSiemens Healthineers will ask shareholders in February 2027 to sign off on its separation from Siemens, with both companies' annual general meetings slated to vote on the spin-off that would see the medical-technology unit deconsolidated from its parent. The company confirmed the timetable on Thursday, pairing it with a rebranding and a fresh efficiency drive that will shape its first years as a standalone business.
The name change to "Healthineers" is tied to the same shareholder approval, with the legal switch requiring the backing of the AGM on 18.02.2027. Siemens expects the process to begin once the planned spin-off has been entered in the commercial register. The brand transition itself is designed as a three-year rollout starting in 2027, giving the company a lengthy runway to retire the Siemens prefix from its identity.
Cost Pressures Behind the Restructuring
Financing the carve-out comes at a price. Reuters reported on Thursday that the company plans savings of at least 300 million euros at Healthineers, alongside 400 million euros at Olyrian Diagnostics. Chief financial officer Jochen Schmitz told the news agency that the measures would also affect jobs.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Healthineers?
A second programme, dubbed "Transform4 Future," is scheduled for 2028 to 2030 and will target roughly 300 million euros in cost burdens. Those stem from the planned diagnostics carve-out, the separation from the Siemens group and the sharper focus on the ultrasound business. Whether the initiative will include staff reductions was initially left open, according to Reuters.
Board Reshuffle on the Agenda
Governance changes will accompany the structural ones. On Wednesday the supervisory board said it would propose Melanie Kreis, Heyo Kroemer, Jonathan Lewin and Pascale Witz as new shareholder representatives at the 2027 AGM. Roland Busch intends to step down before the end of his term, while the mandates of Veronika Bienert, Marion Helmes and Karl-Heinz Streibich expire in the normal course at the same meeting. Ralf Thomas and Peter Körte are to be put forward for re-election.
Analysts Split on the Product Story
Opinion on the equity is less uniform than the company's restructuring plan. Barclays raised its price target to 51 euros from 47.50 euros while keeping an "Overweight" rating, with analyst Hassan Al-Wakeel pointing to a strong product cycle expected to deliver momentum in 2027. Deutsche Bank Research took a cooler view the same day, reiterating "Hold" and a 39-euro target after the annual figures. Analyst Falko Friedrichs described the quarterly results as mixed, singling out Precision Therapy as an area of concern.
Investors will get further detail on the company's direction at a roadshow with J.P. Morgan in London on 09.11.2026. The annual report for fiscal 2026 is due for publication on 25.11.2026.
