Goldman Sachs Lifts Infineon Stake as Chipmaker Broadens AI and Robotics Reach
Published on 10/31/2026 at 12:52 | Editorial boerse-global.deGoldman Sachs has raised its voting position in Infineon, including instruments, to 5.70% from 4.81%, according to a disclosure filed Wednesday. The threshold was crossed on 21 October, and the notification covers the aggregate holding together with instruments.
The increased stake surfaced against a rough session for the stock. Infineon shares fell 4.5% on the previous day, caught in a selloff that swept European semiconductor names after Intel's disappointing guidance. Intel's fourth-quarter revenue forecast of USD 15 billion to USD 16 billion landed well short of the USD 17.1 billion analysts had pencilled in, and Reuters reported that the miss was compounded by worries over softer PC demand and the cost of the industry's AI build-out.
Powering AI Data Centres
On the operational front, Infineon has been busy stitching together partnerships. Its collaboration with NVIDIA, expanded on 21 October, centres on GaN-based high-voltage intermediate bus converters for 800-volt DC architectures in AI data centres.

A separate deal announced Monday extends Infineon's reach into AI power supply through Enphase Energy. Infineon is supplying 900-volt GaN switches for Enphase's solid-state transformers, with Enphase leading development and system demonstration while Infineon contributes component technology and engineering.
Robotics Push and Silicon Carbide Supply
The two chipmakers are also backing European start-ups. Alongside UnternehmerTUM Accelerator and Microsoft, Infineon and NVIDIA launched the Physical AI Growth Lab on 22 October. The equity-free accelerator programme targets young companies working in physical AI, robotics and industrial artificial intelligence, and runs from January through April 2027.
Infineon has additionally signed an agreement with Wolfspeed for the supply of 200-millimetre silicon carbide wafers. According to the company, the arrangement is intended to bolster the resilience of its supply chains.
Results on the Horizon
Investors will get their next look at the numbers on 10 November, when Infineon is due to report fourth-quarter and full-year results alongside guidance for the 2026/27 fiscal year. The date is marked as provisional in the financial calendar.
