Boston-based technology firm Litum has unveiled PathAware IQ and IQ+, a pair of systems that push its collision-warning technology well beyond the beep-and-flash stage and into full safety-intelligence territory. Word of the launch emerged in mid-September 2026.

The pitch is straightforward: logistics and manufacturing sites should be able to raise workplace safety not by adding more alarms, but by collecting and analysing what those alarms actually catch.

PathAware IQ sits at the foundation of the platform. It captures safety incidents across an entire fleet, giving companies a structured way to log and review near-misses and potentially dangerous situations rather than letting them disappear at the end of a shift.

The upgraded tier, PathAware IQ+, layers on functions that go past warning workers in the moment. Digital departure checks are among them — pre-shift inspections designed to ensure a vehicle only enters service once it has cleared a safety review.

No cameras, no wearables, no warehouse-wide tracking

A defining feature of the new technology is that it is built as a retrofit. According to the information available, the solution runs without cameras, wearables or a site-wide Real-Time Locating System (RTLS).

That design is aimed squarely at mixed forklift fleets — the common reality of a warehouse floor where several brands and vintages of truck share the same aisles. Litum says the approach allows integration into existing infrastructure without major hardware changes to vehicles or the building itself.

Sales run on a subscription model, priced per vehicle, a structure the company says lets businesses scale their safety setup up or down as needed. Litum points to an international footprint of more than 120 customers across over 50 countries, with more than 40 Fortune 500 companies among them.

The wider shift toward AI in safety and quality

Litum's launch lands in the middle of a broader industry move toward intelligent platforms — one in which AI-assisted Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is also playing a central role.

Such systems are designed to unlock quality knowledge scattered across complaints, inspection reports, audits and maintenance records. The goal is sharper risk assessment, including the ability to measure sustainability contributions.
