Police Pursuit Deaths Under Investigation in England
A 41-year-old man died on August 30 after the Audi he was driving left the road during a police pursuit in the Dunstable area and struck a tree near Caddington. The IOPC has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the chase.
In a separate incident, a 62-year-old woman died from injuries sustained in a collision near Stratford-upon-Avon on August 24. She was travelling on the A439 Warwick Road when her vehicle was struck by an Audi A3 being pursued by police. The 19-year-old driver of the Audi died at the scene. The IOPC is also investigating this case.

In Florida, a 19-year-old man was arrested on August 30 following a fatal hit-and-run in Orange County. The Florida Highway Patrol said Christopher Laureda allegedly ran a red light in a Ford F-250 and struck a Volkswagen Jetta, killing the driver. He faces charges including DUI involving death and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Maryland State Police arrested 32-year-old Jose Caballero Nolasco after a wrong-way collision on I-270 on August 29 near Democracy Boulevard. The crash killed Musammat Shamima Begum, 46, and Areebah Jahin, 23. Nolasco has been charged with manslaughter and impaired driving.
Two further US cases remain under investigation. Police in Jackson, New Jersey, filed manslaughter charges against an unlicensed driver following the death of an eight-month-old child struck in a parking lot on August 28. In Charlotte, North Carolina, speed and impairment are suspected in an August 29 rollover crash that killed Andrea Pohl Parkin and Bryson Duran Brown.

A head-on collision on the N1 near Polokwane, South Africa, on August 28 killed a sedan driver and injured 12 police officers travelling in a police minibus. Eight officers are reported to be in serious condition.
