Evotec shares drew fresh attention after the company confirmed its full-year guidance and reported a narrower adjusted loss, but the more consequential story sits in Redmond, Washington, where a planned third manufacturing line is set to interrupt output before it adds any.

The stock rose 5.0% on the session, a move dpa-AFX attributes to progress on the restructuring and the reaffirmed outlook. RBC kept its "Outperform" rating and its 5-euro price target, with analyst Charles Weston noting that the final quarterly figures held no surprises relative to the preliminary numbers already published. The advance, in other words, met known results rather than a fresh upgrade.

A Capacity Bet With a Pause Attached

Evotec intends to install the third Redmond line in 2027. Getting it in place requires a temporary halt to production, which could weigh on that year's revenue. The trade-off is plain: tomorrow's capacity can crimp today's performance.

For investors, the expansion only earns its keep if the added capacity is later put to economic use. Management has to steer through an operational gap in the meantime, and that is where the quality of the overhaul will be judged — capital plans prove themselves through subsequent utilization.

Vertex has selected Just–Evotec Biologics for commercial manufacturing of Povetacicept, a decision that underpins the growth case for the unit provided Evotec executes the shift to higher output reliably. The commercial mandate demands manufacturing capacity whose very build-out can become an operational risk.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Evotec?

Horizon's Savings and the Cost of Building

Running alongside is the Horizon program. By the end of September, Evotec had captured more than 20% of its annual savings target of 75 million euros, with the full figure due by the end of 2027. Roughly 400 of the planned 800 job cuts were already implemented, and site closures are on the schedule as well.

The workforce reduction is the sharpest expression of the tension at the heart of the turnaround: Evotec is shrinking its organization while preparing additional capacity. That can amount to a coherent reset, so long as the remaining structure carries the commercial workload dependably. Success should be measured against that test as much as against the financial targets.

The Quarter in Numbers

The results published yesterday offer a first financial marker. Adjusted EBITDA improved to ?1.6 million euros in the third quarter of 2026, compared with ?15.0 million euros a year earlier. The loss at that earnings level shrank markedly — though it is not yet a return to profit on an adjusted basis, and that is the limit of the positive reading.

For the first nine months of 2026, Evotec reported revenue of 465.0 million euros and adjusted group EBITDA of ?44.3 million euros. The cumulative figures make clear that the earnings burden remains substantial despite the better quarter.

Guidance holds. For 2026, Evotec sticks with a revenue range of 570–610 million euros and adjusted group EBITDA of ?105 to ?70 million euros. That outlook is a company expectation, not a result already banked.

Long-Range Ambitions, Deferred

Beyond the operating numbers, the pushed-back margin goals belong in any valuation. The market's positive reaction came even though Evotec has adjusted its medium-term ambitions, so an unambiguously brighter picture does not follow.

Evotec at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

By the end of 2028, Evotec is targeting an adjusted EBITDA margin of 20%. Reaching profitability is only part of the task; the timeline to that earning power matters just as much. For 2030, the company put its revenue framework at roughly 1 billion euros, with the adjusted EBITDA margin above 20% by the end of that year.

Partnerships Still Need Delivering

Management counts around 20 strategic partnership opportunities with a potential aggregate value of about 1 billion euros. That is a possible growth source — if it converts into binding agreements and, eventually, into business.

Which is why the Redmond question has such concreteness. It ties the prospect of new partnerships to the practical job of enabling extra production. The opportunities favor Evotec if the company can serve them with an efficient, cost-effective organization.

The yardstick for the stock is therefore how the two halves of the overhaul interlock. Evotec gains conviction if savings advance and the capacity build strengthens commercial execution. The announced production pause makes that yardstick tangible: what counts is how reliably the company manages the path through the interruption into expanded manufacturing. Today's recovery rewards progress on the restructuring — it does not pre-empt its successful completion.
