Evonik has spent the past week stacking up operational announcements — a new ruminant feed additive, stiffer dental plastics, a Japanese polyurethane recycling pact and a pharma award — giving investors a run of product-level news before the hard numbers arrive on 3 November 2026 with the third-quarter interim report.

The most recent of these landed yesterday, when the company launched Lypron, a rumen-protected lysine solution for ruminants that slots into Evonik's existing amino-acid balancing concept. French technology provider Sipena, which co-developed the product, is to manufacture it exclusively for Evonik.

A day earlier, Evonik unveiled two new, stiffer grades of its VESTAKEEP PEEK line aimed at long-term dental prosthetics — a straightforward widening of the material portfolio for that application.

A recycling model with the roles already carved up

Further back, on 13 October, the Essen-based group agreed with Toyotsu Chemiplas and Sanyo Chemical Industries to develop a polyurethane foam recycling model in Japan. The division of labour is specific: Toyotsu Chemiplas handles collection and logistics, Sanyo Chemical contributes polyol development and process engineering, and Evonik supplies its hydrolysis recycling technology. The goal is to recover recycled polyols and amines from used foam and feed them back into new polyurethane products.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Evonik?

There is also recognition for the company's laboratory work. On 7 October Evonik collected the CPHI Pharma Award 2026 in the "Digital Transformation" category for its Self Driving Labs.

Not all milestones are alike

Investors would do well to separate the stages of development here. Lypron is already on the market; the Japanese project is a joint development agreement still at the model-building stage. A launch and a development pact are not equivalent operational milestones, and neither comes with a disclosed contribution to earnings.

The same caution applies to the trade-show calendar filling out this week. Evonik is attending Cosmetorium in Barcelona on 21 and 22 October, and the Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Germany from 20 to 22 October. These events offer a concrete look at product work in progress, but say nothing yet about its commercial payoff.

The BASF question sits in a separate column

Running alongside all of this is the rejected BASF offer, which remains a valuation factor in its own right. Reuters, citing two people close to BASF, reported that a higher bid could be possible if talks between the two companies were to materialise — a possibility tied to a condition that has not been met.

That speculative thread should be kept apart from the confirmed operational steps. The new partnerships concern the ongoing development of the business; the interim report on 3 November is the next scheduled date for financial figures, and thus the next level on which the business can actually be assessed.
