Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain countries with Council Decision 2024 / 1784 concerning restrictive measures in view of activities undermining the stability and political transition of Sudan

BRUSSELS, 18 July 2024 / PRN Africa / -- On 24 June 2024, the Council adopted Council Decision (CFSP) 2024/17841, listing six individuals responsible for activities undermining the stability and political transition of Sudan, where fighting is still ongoing between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their respective affiliated militias.

The six individuals will be included in the Annex to Decision (CFSP) 2023/2135.

The candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Republic of Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina2 and Georgia, the EFTA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Armenia align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
