Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision 2023 / 2487 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in the Central African Republic

BRUSSELS, 23 November 2023 / PRN Africa / -- On 9 November 2023, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2023/24871.

The Decision amends the Decision 2013/798/CFSP following the adoption of Resolution 2693 (2023) on 27 July 2023 by the United Nations Security Council establishing that the arms embargo measures and the related notification requirements are no longer to apply to the supply, sale or transfer of arms and related materiel, and the provision of assistance, advice and training to the CAR security forces, including state civilian law enforcement institutions.

The candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the potential candidate country Georgia, the EFTA countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
