Shares of Australian tungsten producer EQ Resources extended their extraordinary 2026 run on Friday, with the stock climbing 8.8 percent to 0.3700 AUD. The advance builds on a year-to-date gain of roughly 346 percent, a surge that has transformed the junior miner into one of the ASX's standout performers.

The latest leg higher follows a flurry of corporate activity, including the listing of 686,225 new ordinary shares on the Australian exchange. Those shares stem from the exercise of options and the conversion of convertible securities, a routine step for miners looking to align their capital structure with an expanded operational footprint.

Record Month Caps a Landmark Quarter

The operational story underpinning the share price momentum is hard to ignore. July 2026 closed with a record monthly revenue of 51 million AUD, a figure that alone accounted for a substantial chunk of the 79 million AUD generated across the entire fourth quarter of fiscal 2026. That quarterly result was driven by both record sales volumes and firmer tungsten prices.

Production at the flagship Mt Carbine site in North Queensland reached 13,050 metric ton units (mtu) during the quarter. The secondary reporting puts the July output at 14,756 mtu of tungsten concentrate, sold at an average price of 2,386 USD per mtu — a combination of volume and pricing that underscores the company's scaling trajectory.

Expansion Ambitions in Queensland

Management is not resting on those numbers. The company is reportedly evaluating the acquisition of additional concession areas across North Queensland, aiming to broaden its project portfolio beyond Mt Carbine. While no binding agreements have been reached, the exploration signals a clear intent to cement regional leadership in tungsten supply.

That ambition is backed by an already-approved expansion blueprint for Mt Carbine. A capital injection of 39 million AUD is earmarked to lift annual capacity to 2 million tonnes, a move that would meaningfully increase the operation's contribution to global tungsten markets — a metal prized for its hardness and heat resistance in high-tech applications.

A Billionaire's Vote of Confidence

The rally has also been fueled by a shift in the shareholder register. On July 20, Andrew Forrest's investment vehicle Wonongarra agreed to acquire a 16.8 percent stake in EQ Resources, purchasing the entire holding previously controlled by Oaktree Capital Management. That package comprised roughly 862.1 million shares and 35.6 million options, valued at approximately 189.7 million AUD at the time.

Forrest's entry has been widely interpreted as a strategic endorsement of the company's long-term prospects, bringing both financial firepower and credibility to a producer navigating the complexities of scaling a critical minerals operation.

Valuation and Outlook

Despite the steep run-up, the stock remains about 5.1 percent below its 52-week high, reached in early March. Analysts covering the name have maintained a positive stance, with a price target of 0.50 AUD on the table — implying further upside from current levels.

The convergence of record operational metrics, a strengthened balance sheet, and high-profile institutional backing has created a compelling narrative for investors. The question now is whether EQ Resources can convert its momentum into sustained delivery as it pushes ahead with expansion plans in one of Australia's most prospective tungsten regions.
