DroneShield Taps Candice Driver as Joint Company Secretary While Order Book Holds at Mid-Guidance
Published on 10/17/2026 at 21:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deDroneShield's shares climbed 6.7% on Friday to close at EUR 0.9388, a move that media reports attribute to broad capital flows and a recovery in Australian technology stocks rather than any company-specific catalyst. The advance offers little comfort against the bigger picture: the stock is down 48% since the start of the year.
Administrative Change at the Top
The company did make governance news in early October. On October 6, DroneShield appointed Candice Driver as Joint Company Secretary, succeeding Carla Balanco in the role. Paul Cenoz continues to serve as the company's other Joint Company Secretary.
A day later, on October 7, DroneShield announced that its in-house Access Portal had picked up an Australian Good Design Award, recognition of the system's design and functional execution.
Software Update Targets Thermal Accuracy
Product development has also been in focus this week. On Wednesday, the drone-defense specialist unveiled a software update built specifically for systems already in the field. The refresh lifts classification accuracy for thermal cameras by 44% and broadens detection and counter-drone capabilities to include fixed-wing models. It reaches more than 4,200 software-capable devices through the company's Mission Ready Services model.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying DroneShield?
The push underscores a shift toward recurring services: digital upgrades let existing defense systems be enhanced on-site without installing new hardware. DroneShield said a quarterly software update is being deployed to devices already in operation, and the release of its overarching command system, DroneSentry-C2, is slated for November 3.
Contracted Revenue Lands Mid-Range
Underpinning the commercial story is the reported order book. On Thursday, the group put contracted revenue for the current fiscal year at AUD 261 million — a 35% increase year over year and exactly the midpoint of its own guidance range.
The forward picture is thinner. Contracted revenue for fiscal 2027 stands at AUD 29 million, with a further AUD 17 million locked in for later periods. Converting the existing pipeline into firm orders beyond the current cycle therefore remains a key task for the sales team.
What Investors Will Watch
Despite Friday's gain, the overall picture for the stock remains challenging, with the year-to-date decline of 48% framing the debate. Over the coming quarters, the pace at which management turns its pipeline into new firm contracts — and safeguards revenue levels in the years ahead — will be the metric that matters most.
