DroneShield's RfRecon Launch Can't Break the Share Price's Slide — Yet

DroneShield posts strong H1 growth and new RfRecon product, yet shares slide 12% amid regulatory scrutiny from ASIC.

The arithmetic at DroneShield is getting harder to ignore. Revenue is compounding at a rapid clip, the product pipeline is expanding, and the customer base now spans more than 70 countries. The share price, however, keeps moving in the opposite direction.

The counter-drone specialist closed Friday at EUR 1.21, down 2.5 percent on the day and 12 percent lower on the week. That softness came despite a flurry of announcements that, on paper, should have given investors reason to cheer.

A New Flagship Takes Center Stage

The centerpiece arrived Monday, when DroneShield unveiled RfRecon, a portable radio-frequency intelligence system built on its newly developed RfAI-3 architecture. The company frames the device as an evolution beyond simple drone detection into broader RF intelligence — capable of identifying, locating and assessing signals in congested electromagnetic environments.

The specs are striking. DroneShield claims RfRecon delivers roughly six times the RF coverage and four times the AI compute power of existing industry solutions, with 31 times the storage and eight times the memory of earlier systems. The hardware is designed to decode Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Remote ID signals on the fly.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying DroneShield?

A day later, management took its technology roadmap to the Canaccord Genuity Growth Conference, laying out a six-stage architecture that combines radar, optical sensors, electronic warfare and kinetic effectors. Further product generations are slated through the end of 2027.

The Numbers Tell a Growth Story

The operational momentum is real. DroneShield reported first-half revenue of AUD 125.8 million, up 74 percent year over year, with gross margin around 60 percent. Recurring revenue came in at AUD 14.2 million — still a modest slice of the total, but evidence that the company is pushing beyond one-off orders toward service contracts.

The order book backs up the narrative. As of July 28, secured revenue for fiscal 2026 stood at AUD 206 million, and management has guided full-year sales to a range of AUD 250 million to 270 million. That implies double-digit growth, though it falls short of what analysts had previously penciled in.

Adding to the mix: a AUD 23.2 million order from a reseller supplying a European military customer, disclosed in late July alongside the second-generation RfAI-3 detection technology.

Why the Market Isn't Biting

So why is the stock stuck in reverse? Part of the answer lies in the regulatory overhang. Australia's corporate regulator ASIC is reportedly examining the company's disclosures and trading activity from November 2025 — a cloud that has proven more persistent than any single piece of positive news.

There have been flickers of institutional interest. Citigroup entities recently crossed the 5 percent ownership threshold, and JPMorgan Chase expanded its stake in early August, a move that lent support at the time. One trading session even saw the stock jump 7.1 percent, which observers linked to the previously announced departures of the CEO and board chairman.

DroneShield at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

But those bounces have faded quickly. The chart tells the story: the shares sit 34 percent below their 200-day moving average of EUR 1.82, with the 50-day average at EUR 1.43 also well above the current price. The 14-day RSI of 41.3 is drifting toward oversold territory without signaling a reversal. Year to date, the stock is down 33 percent; over the past 12 months, the decline stretches to 48 percent. From the record high of EUR 3.79 reached on October 1, 2025, the shares have shed 68 percent.

The August 26 Test

Wednesday, August 26, 2026, now looms as the next inflection point. That's when DroneShield releases its half-year results for the period ending June 30, followed a day later by an investor webinar and Q&A session.

The fundamental question investors will be weighing: can the global expansion and product momentum eventually outweigh the regulatory uncertainty and the trimmed guidance? The gap between what the company is achieving operationally and what the market is willing to pay for it remains wide — and for now, the skeptics have the upper hand.
