Investors waiting for a catalyst to reverse DroneShield's prolonged share-price slide have had two in quick succession — a fresh European military contract and a pair of product launches — yet the market has so far shrugged at both. The stock closed Friday at EUR 1.21, down 2.5 percent on the day, extending a 12 percent weekly decline and a 15 percent monthly drop.

The latest announcement, unveiled Monday, is RfRecon, a portable radio-frequency intelligence device that the company is positioning as its next-generation flagship for defence, government and security customers. It follows the early-August debut of RfAI-3, the third iteration of its proprietary RF-detection technology, which management says offers a meaningful improvement in identifying unknown and evolving drone threats. Together, the launches form a product offensive designed to keep the order pipeline flowing — and on that front, the numbers are encouraging.

DroneShield has booked AUD 23.2 million in new business from a European military client, routed through COBBS BELUX BV. That contract adds to a committed revenue figure of AUD 206 million for the current financial year after just seven months — nearly matching the entirety of last year's sales. Management has reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance of AUD 250 million to AUD 270 million, a range that was trimmed just over a week ago and landed below many analyst expectations.

First-half revenue is tracking at AUD 125.8 million, a 74 percent jump year over year, though the gross margin is expected to come in around 60 percent versus 65 percent in the prior-year period. The company attributes the compression to a shift in revenue mix. Those figures remain preliminary until the official half-year report lands on August 26, alongside an investor conference.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying DroneShield?

That date looms as the real test. The market will be scrutinising not just whether the topline numbers hold up, but what management says about margins, the order pipeline and any further commentary on guidance.

The technical picture offers little comfort in the meantime. The share price sits roughly 15 percent below its 50-day average of EUR 1.43 and about 34 percent under the 200-day average of EUR 1.82, signalling that the medium-term downtrend remains firmly intact. The relative strength index at 41.3 points to neutral-to-weak momentum rather than oversold conditions. From the October 2025 52-week high, the stock has now surrendered 68 percent.

Adding to the pressure is a lingering regulatory overhang. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission's review, disclosed in May, into the company's disclosures and trading activity from November 2025 continues to weigh on investor confidence, even if it no longer counts as fresh news.

Institutional ownership moves have added a layer of noise. Citigroup entities reported crossing the 5 percent disclosure threshold in early August — on a day the stock was trading lower. JPMorgan Chase had earlier increased its position, then dropped below the reporting threshold, only to re-enter in July. The back-and-forth suggests active portfolio management rather than any strategic repositioning.

For now, the combination of new products, a solid order book and institutional activity is not enough to break the share price out of its rut. The August 26 results — and the tone management strikes on margins and guidance — will determine whether the operational story can finally translate into share-price support, or whether the regulatory cloud keeps the stock pinned down.
