DroneShield's Numbers Are Rising. Its Share Price Keeps Falling. Here's the Gap.

DroneShield's FY26 revenue jumps 74% to A$125.8M, guidance raised to A$250-270M, but shares fall 68% from peak amid regulatory probe.

The arithmetic at DroneShield is getting harder to argue with. Contracted revenue for fiscal 2026 has reached A$206 million after just seven months, first-half sales came in at A$125.8 million — up 74 percent year on year — and management has responded by lifting its full-year guidance to a range of A$250 million to A$270 million. Recurring revenue now stands at A$14.2 million, roughly 11.3 percent of the half-year total, a sliver of predictability in a business built largely on one-off orders.

The share price, however, tells a different story. The stock closed Friday at EUR 1.21, down 2.5 percent on the day and roughly 15 percent below its 50-day average of EUR 1.43. Over the past month it has shed 15 percent. From its October peak of EUR 3.79, the decline is a staggering 68 percent, and the shares trade 34 percent under their 200-day average of EUR 1.82. Since the start of the year, the loss stands at 33 percent.

That disconnect — double-digit growth on the one hand, a persistent downtrend on the other — is the central tension animating the stock right now.

A Product Push to Match the Guidance

The upgraded outlook was delivered alongside a fresh wave of product news. DroneShield has introduced RfRecon, a portable radio-frequency reconnaissance device aimed at defense, government and security customers, with a formal market launch slated for the third quarter of 2026. That follows the early-August unveiling of RfAI-3, the third generation of the company's radio-frequency detection technology.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying DroneShield?

The product cadence is meant to reinforce the growth narrative, as is a previously disclosed A$23.2 million order placed by a reseller on behalf of a European military end customer. The European order, announced roughly two weeks before the guidance hike, had already provided a positive jolt; the new figures add further substance.

Institutional Money Moves In — and Out

Against that backdrop, large financial institutions have been positioning themselves. JPMorgan Chase increased its stake in the company from 5.15 percent to 6.68 percent, according to an Australian exchange filing dated August 4. The disclosure coincided with a notable share-price jump in early August and is widely seen as the likely trigger for that move.

Citigroup entities have also crossed the 5 percent reporting threshold, according to media reports. For a stock that has been among the most shorted on the Australian exchange, such accumulation by major houses is typically read as a vote of confidence in the underlying operations — even if it hasn't been enough to arrest the broader decline.

The Governance Shadow

The overhang is regulatory. Media reports indicate the Australian Securities and Investments Commission is examining disclosures and trading activity from November 2025, a period that saw the departure of both the chief executive and the board chair. The share price weakened considerably around that news before partially recovering.

That investigation continues to weigh on sentiment, and it helps explain why operational momentum has failed to translate into share-price gains. The market, it seems, is pricing in the regulatory risk alongside the growth.

What Comes Next

The next inflection point is the half-year report due August 26, 2026. That release should confirm the preliminary figures, offer detail on margin development, and — perhaps most importantly — signal whether the company can put the governance questions behind it. For now, the numbers are moving in the right direction; the stock is waiting for a reason to follow.
