Deutz Holds Buy Ratings as Brokers Trim Targets and a 29.9% Voting Bloc Emerges
Published on 11/08/2026 at 13:02 | Editorial boerse-global.deDeutz shareholders now know exactly how much of the engine maker's voting power sits in a handful of coordinated hands. Mandatory disclosures published Friday show that a group acting in concert around Norbert Erichsen was attributed 29.90% of the company's voting rights as of Thursday, the date the threshold was crossed.
The filings, which rest on a voting-rights agreement, also name the FFG Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH among the vehicles through which Erichsen's stake is attributed. A separate notification covers Gorm Iver Gondesen, Maren Gondesen, Gorm-Eilif Gondesen and Lisa-Marie Gondesen, who were likewise each attributed 29.90% as of Thursday, with the Universum Holding GmbH and a voting-rights agreement cited. BRIMA, J.O.S.S. and Universum Holding appear among the group's members.
The disclosures landed a day after Deutz reported a new total of roughly 240 million voting rights, following a capital measure that took effect on Wednesday.
Brokers Keep the Faith, With Lower Numbers
Analysts spent Friday recalibrating their models rather than their convictions. Berenberg reaffirmed its buy rating on Deutz following the third-quarter figures and stuck with a price target of €16.50. MPCM cut its target to €18 from €19 but kept its buy call, pointing to the valuation of comparable companies while acknowledging that third-quarter orders came in ahead of expectations.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutz?
The DZ Bank had already moved on Thursday, trimming its fair value to €15 from €16 while maintaining its buy recommendation, according to dpa-AFX.
Nine-Month Growth and a Raised Margin Outlook
The numbers underpinning those calls were published on Thursday. Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 rose about 11% to €1.67 billion, while order intake reached roughly €2 billion — an increase of well over 30%. Adjusted EBIT came in at €118.2 million, lifting the adjusted EBIT margin to 7.1% from 5.8% a year earlier.
Management is sticking with full-year revenue guidance of €2.3 billion to €2.5 billion. On profitability, Deutz now expects the adjusted EBIT margin to land at the upper end of its 6.5% to 8.0% range, an upgrade issued alongside the quarterly release.
FFG Deal Closed, Defence Revenue in Sight
The same Thursday announcement confirmed the completion of the FFG acquisition. For 2027, Deutz expects the defence segment to contribute more than €1 billion in additional revenue at an adjusted EBITDA margin above 20%.
Deutz at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Investors will get a closer look at how that strategy fits together on 10 November 2026, when a dialogue with Deutz's finance chief is scheduled to cover the defence roadmap. The corporate calendar then points to 30 March 2027, when the 2026 annual report, the balance-sheet press conference and an analyst and investor event are due.
A Weak Tape Weighs on the Stock
None of that shielded the shares from the broader market. Deutz stock shed 2.0% on Friday as a worldwide selloff in AI and semiconductor names dragged the German market lower, with the DAX down nearly 2% in early trading, according to Tagesschau. The stock had already surrendered early gains on Thursday after the results, with media reports pointing to Rheinmetall's guidance cut as a drag on sentiment across the defence sector — and on Deutz in particular.
