Deutsche Telekom Sets AI Investor Day as Analysts Spar Over T-Mobile US and Broadband Pressures

Deutsche Telekom is putting artificial intelligence at the center of its next strategic pitch. The Bonn-based carrier has scheduled an investor day for October 5, an event dedicated to the commercial opportunities it sees in AI and one that will be carried via livestream. The announcement lands after a stretch in which the market has questioned some of the company's broader strategic direction.
Sentiment on the equity is anything but uniform. Analysts remain divided over what lies ahead for the DAX-listed group, with uncertainty surrounding a potential merger involving T-Mobile US and mounting competitive pressure in Germany's fixed-line broadband business cited as the chief reasons for caution. The research house also pointed to the neutral stance its own US-based analysts hold on the American subsidiary. A more bullish view came from Berenberg, which, according to media reports dated September 30, reiterated its buy rating on the stock with a price target of EUR 35.20.
Cloud Automation and Sports Rights Broaden the Revenue Base
Beyond connectivity, Telekom is steadily widening its footprint into digital services. Working alongside partner caery, the company unveiled an AI-driven automation tool built on the T Cloud Public platform that lets health and long-term care insurers handle claims assessment, billing and payout processes digitally. The solution was presented on Tuesday.

Sports streaming is getting fresh content as well. On September 25 the group secured exclusive rights to the Basketball Champions League for its MagentaSport platform. Under the deal, every game featuring a German club will be shown live, along with all fixtures from the quarterfinals onward. The 2026/27 season tips off on October 6, 2026. No financial terms were disclosed.
Network Upgrades Keep Pace With Data Demand
Heavier video and cloud usage is forcing continuous investment in infrastructure. Mobile data traffic is climbing at roughly 30 percent a year, according to company figures released Wednesday. Telekom says it has already modernized about half of its mobile sites, bringing 115 new locations online in August alone and boosting capacity at 401 existing masts.
Management had also provided an update on network infrastructure progress more than a month ago. On the equity side, the stock finished Friday's session at EUR 26.59, a gain of 1.9 percent on the day. That still leaves the shares 23 percent short of their 52-week high of EUR 34.35, and over the past 30 days the stock has shed 9.2 percent. Market capitalization stands at EUR 127.03 billion.
What Comes Next
For investors, the upcoming technology roadmap discussion should offer some visibility into future efficiency and growth drivers. Hard financial figures follow shortly after: Deutsche Telekom publishes its third-quarter 2026 results on November 5, 2026, a report that will show how well the operating business has held up against intensifying competition.
