DeFi Technologies Rides September Crypto Wave as Nasdaq Grants Extra Time to Regain Compliance
Published on 09/11/2026 at 16:50 | Editorial boerse-global.deA broad revival across digital-asset markets has handed DeFi Technologies an unexpected lift, even as the company works through a regulatory grace period that keeps its Nasdaq listing intact for now.
The Frankfurt-listed shares climbed 7.6% on the day to change hands at €0.5145, extending a recovery that has been building over recent weeks. The move came as the total market capitalization of digital assets swelled 17.6% this month to $2.70 trillion.
Bitcoin's Surge Sets the Tone
The tailwind is largely sector-wide rather than company-specific. Bitcoin posted a 24.8% gain over just seven days, a run that ranks among the strongest weekly advances in recent years. Two forces drove the rally: expectations of steady interest rates after Fed Governor Chris Waller's remarks, and heavy inflows into exchange-traded funds. Bitcoin notched its largest ETF inflows in nine months last Friday.
A parallel expansion of US Treasury buybacks eased conditions in bond markets, pushing capital toward riskier assets such as cryptocurrencies. Against that backdrop, DeFi Technologies stretched its gap above its 50-day moving average to 16%.

Breathing Room on the Listing Front
The company also secured greater planning certainty regarding its US quotation. As media reports confirmed last week, Nasdaq granted an additional 180 calendar days for DeFi Technologies to satisfy its minimum bid price requirement. The exchange's rule demands a closing price of at least $1.00, and Nasdaq had flagged on March 4 that the stock had fallen short of that threshold for 30 consecutive business days.
The extension became necessary after the original cure period lapsed on September 1 without the share price reclaiming the required level on a sustained basis. Under Nasdaq Listing Rule 5550(a)(2), the company must now post closing prices at or above $1.00 for a minimum of ten consecutive business days within the new window, which runs through March 1, 2027. DeFi Technologies confirmed receipt of the notification in a filing with the SEC and stressed that trading continues without interruption under the ticker DEFT.
The reprieve eases the immediate threat of delisting, offering investors a measure of reassurance. Even so, the stock remains roughly 78% below its 52-week high of €2.31, and the shares closed Thursday at €0.4780. Over a 12-month span, losses amount to 76% versus the prior-year level, with the gap to the 52-week peak put at 79%.
Analysts Trim Expectations After Q2
The fundamental picture remains difficult. In second-quarter 2026 results published in mid-August, DeFi Technologies reported revenue of $7.8 million — a decline from the first quarter, when it booked $11.2 million in revenue and $4.9 million in net income.
Analysts adjusted accordingly. The Maxim Group downgraded the stock from "Buy" to "Hold" roughly three weeks ago, while Benchmark cut its price target from $2.00 to $1.00 around the same time, keeping its "Buy" rating. Both firms pointed to revenue and earnings figures that fell short of market expectations. B. Riley had already lowered its own target about two weeks earlier, reflecting the same challenging mix.
Management has been working to shore up investor confidence through operational initiatives, including a proprietary hedge fund announced about a month ago and the Q2 results themselves, which were meant to underscore its growth strategy in decentralized finance. Whether those moves can lift the quotation back above $1.00 before spring is now the pivotal question for the company's continued presence on the tech exchange — and the newly granted window pushes any final listing decision into next year.
